For way too many years, I had to get up at 2:30 a.m...I had to drive nearly 100 miles to go to work, and if I was late, I missed the boat...literally...We took crew boats from the dock to our barges. If you missed the boat, it was often an hour before a boat would get back to the dock. When the crane operator doesn't make it to work, it affects the entire crew and their work. Once in a while, tide work would alter my schedule and I'd have to be to work even earlier than usual. THAT always fucked me up...I rarely got more than 5 hours sleep as it was, so anything earlier really screwed me up.
BTW, #3 CAN work, depending on the person. When I work a long way from home, I get up earlier and leave earlier to allow for traffic snafu's...When I work 5 minutes from home, I tend to be 2-3 minutes late...all the dammed time. Never fails.
