Getting up is all about when you go to sleep. Most people will sleep 7-8 hours even when they are well rested from day to day. Decide what time you want to get up and count the hours back. That's when you should be falling asleep.

The discipline is in going to bed on time. Getting up isn't nearly as hard when you've had enough sleep.

This actually doesn't seem to be true for me at least. One would think that it doesn't matter when I wake up as long as I get the same amount of sleep. However, I feel much more rested if I go to bed at 1 and wake up at 9 rather than going to bed at 11 and waking up at 7.

I'm the same. I just don't feel rested at 7am, regardless of how long I've been asleep. Probably some sort of subconscious issue related to being lazy.

It just takes some getting used to and your brain has to want to wake up...when I'm at home, I can sleep in til noon or 1 every day, despite setting the alarm for 10. On the road, however, I have no problem with waking up at 6:30AM every day...and I probably feel better too.

:Q me too!

I can wake up at will w/ one alarm clock (or even 5 minutes before the alarm rings) whenever I'm on a trip or just not at home.

Once i'm at home, it's over. I have 5 alarm clocks. (cell phone, radio alarm, 2 battery ring alarm, nintendo ds.

it doesn't work! Sometimes I wake up wondering how the F i turned off all 5 and I don't even remember ever doing it. most of the time, when all 5 blair off, I don't even give a crap, and continue sleeping.

All it takes for me though, is one person just pushing me awake and I can wake up.

Go figure. :)

Just 2 weeks ago, I was working an event in Wisconsin...and it was either the hour time difference or just the new schedule, but I woke up one day about 30 minutes before my alarm and started freaking out. Then I tried to remember when I had to be where, how long breakfast and a shower would take...that math didn't seem to work very well after having just woken up.

I ended up having like 15 minutes to burn before the bus got to the hotel. :p

The fear of being late is enough to make me wake up prematurely for anything that I have to be to. If it is work as normal, then I usually have my alarm set to 30 minutes before I have to get up, just in case.

Boo fvcking hoo, you can't even wake up at 9:30, when 75 percent of America has been working for an hour and half already.

Where the hell is self-discipline in people these days.

What's stuck up your ass? Too much protein isnt always good.

He has a point. All you kiddies need to learn to get your asses out of bed. I always laugh at the fools who claim they are late to work because they can't wake up on time. If you worked for me and were chronically 10 minutes late you would be looking for a new job. It doesn't take much discipline to get up on time so I have to assume you just don't have any discipline at all. Go to bed earlier if you can't wake up for work on time....is it that hard?

Jesus - you realize people that are younger have much different circadian rythms, right?

I think it's about time the world realized that. Every school that has decided to start later (that I've heard of) has seen test scores increase across the board.

Don't get me wrong - it's your job, and you should be there on time, and your body can deal with it. It's just that forcing kids to comply with the clocks of middle aged people in some instances makes about as much sense as everyone waking up at 4 AM like the old geezers.

I worked in the mornings every weekend and days with no school throughout my high school year. I have never woke up past 6am because of that.

It completely destroyed my social life as I went to sleep everyday before 9pm. I suffered chronic insomnia throughout college after high school, which I combatted with prescription sedatives. I'm like a senior citizen now. Going to sleep before sunset and waking up before sunrise. I'm starting to get the urge to eat at country kitchen buffets at 6am in the morning.

A typical day during my high school years were like this (including the summer, I worked 7 days a week):

Schoolday: 6am-5:30pm, getting ready for school, going to school, coming back home.
Workday: 6:30am-7pm, getting ready for work, going to work, coming back home.
