Holy crap, you're right! The movie tricked me into thinking it was good!

Seriously, what does that even mean? You're basically saying people's opinions of an artistic work are wrong, which is always stupid.

The way I see it, that statement could mean one of two things

1) The movie was good, but most people make it out to be a lot better than it is (possibly saying they liked it far more than they really did). Hyping it up maybe cause either everyone else is (for some reason) thus making that movie seem far better than it actually is.

2) He liked the movie but damnit hates everyone and their mainstream stuff so the compromise is to admit he liked it but then knock down everyone else in the process.

I guess 1 and 2 aren't that different...

What's with this Wes Anderson crap? Did anyone say it was supposed to be like a Wes Anderson movie? Does Anderson have a monopoly on quirky films?

I enjoyed it.

I don't like movies where I'm left feeling bad for the characters all the way through to the end, like most of Ben Stiller's movies. The Meet The Parents movie's didn't appeal to me at all.

I liked it, but I think the problem was by the time I got around to seeing it everyone had told me it was the greatest/funniest movie every made. I don't think I've watched a movie with such high expectations, so it was pretty much inevitable that I would be a little disappointed.

Of course every time I look at In Search of Lost Time on my bookshelf I can't help but think of this movie and chuckle.

it was, and a well laid out plot. interesting characters with minimalism behind the milieu. most of the droogs on this forum tend to only like anime and porn and then anime porn or some weirdo sci-fi crap, and even then only maybe.

same idiots that say "meh" to everything because they feel they are some how cool saying it. pseudo elitist virtual nitwits sums it up.

that being said, was it the greatest? no. hype is hype is hype.

It was ok. Some enjoyable parts. Worth seeing maybe. The ending was really, really predictable. Many scenes weren't funny when they were trying to be. Some were, though. I think Wes Anderson comes to mind because both this movie and his films often rely way too much on random, strange stuff for "humor." Just because it's random and strange doesn't necessarily make it funny. Anderson films pull it off sometimes. This movie less so.
