anyone else getting additional 2 weeks pay this year?

We get pay our 2weeks paycheck every other Thursday, and we just got paid today, and the next one is on the 18th, and then the following one is on 1/1/2009, because 1/1 is a holiday, so my company will pay us on the 12/31/08 instead. So we are in fact getting pay 27 paychecks this year. I?ve already done the math, so don?t try to tell me I am wrong. We are still getting pay 26 paychecks next year, and each paycheck is the annual salary amount / 26.

Holy Crap...I am in the same situation. My pay "Year" is from April - April though, so I probably won't be affected.

All I know is that I get 3 paychecks in December.

Which is by far, the most perfect month ever to get three paychecks.

I got paid 3 times in October for an extra paycheck. Went straight to savings as I'm used to living off 2 paychecks a month. Very nice little bonus.

last I heard, salary was yearly, not weekly.

This...

..and the likelihood that he'll probably be posting next year pissed off because his company isn't giving him a paycheck on 12/31.

Your paycheck on 1/1 is the 26th of the 2008 year. 26 paychecks/12 months means two months of the year you will received three pay checks.

No, he's correct. Some employers who pay bi-weekly on a Thursday schedule will have a 27 payday anomaly this year if their employer chooses to pay early due to the holiday.

Dec. 18th will be his 26th paycheck. Dec. 31st will be his 27th.

Then base on that anomaly, shouldn't each paycheck be 1/27th of their salary? Or is the 1/1 paycheck 1st of 26 for 2009?

I get paid once per month. Used to get paid every 2 weeks before I was on salary. Monthly is better, less effort.

Only if their company accounted for it. Most companies do not.

we already had our 2 three paychecks months back in 1/08 and 7/08, this 12/08 is the extra rare unexpected one this year.

Note, next year is a 27 paycheck year for you thus I'm assuming the paycheck you are receiving on 12/31 is going to be 1/27 of your salary for next year.

If the company pays out on 12/31/2008, it gets reported as 2008 income. That makes 2008 a 27 paycheck year and 2009 a 26 paycheck year (the first reported paycheck as 1/08/2009)
