Read what he wrote again. You're not understanding.

1 Pixel = 1/3 Each Color, with the green stuck on. That 30% you see... according to this guy.
 
One Pixel = 3 colors = red, green, blue... the red looks bigger because it is lit... unless you have a tiny hole on the panel display, the Green sub pixel is stuck or dead.

You have to understand why these are so cheap and there is a reason why these are A- Grade Display Panels. The green dot may be one of the reasons it got down graded or rejected/binned by the big brands.. In a scheme of things, 1 dead sub pixel is not noticeable with millions of outher pixels.

If you didn't have that green dot, there may be other defects that makes it an A- Grade.

Thanks for replying, but you misunderstand me.

Only 30% of the green sub pixel is stuck. I used a jewelers loupe to magnify the area and I can clearly see the shape of the red sub pixels on a red screen. The green stuck part right next to it is only ~ 30% in size and irregular in shape. It is NOT a full green sub pixel that is stuck. I am not saying 30% of the pixel is stuck, but that 30% of the green sub pixel is stuck

Perhaps I do have 'hole' in the display.

Then you have a partialy dead green sub pixel... 1/3 part of the dead sub green pixel = still a dead green sub pixel... does the other 2/3 lit up?

When I have a green screen, I cannot see any defects. It appears that the other 70% of the flawed sub pixel works normally. Same thing with a white screen.

Only when the green sub pixels are totally off as in black, red and blue screens, can you see the flaw appear as a partially lit green sub pixel.

Wow... you must be really searching for it then to have found it!😵

If it is just one "partial" and you don't notice it during normal use then it really is not an issue... But if you do notice it during normal use then it would be an issue = I know it would bother me which is why I haven't made the jump yet (still looking and waiting for other options).
 
eBay has a version of these for 310 right now, Catleap Q270, 27in @ 2560x1440. Pondering if I should pull the trigger or not. My Dell U2407 is getting old, but still 1920x1200 with no backlight bleed or defective pixels.
 
Backlight bleed is overrated. My Shimian has it fairly bad but I never notice it. How often do you stare at black screens? You can save almost $400 and for that discount there are less inputs, no speakers, no OSD and a little backlight bleed. I personally never need the speakers. The inputs would be nice to have but not necessary and I thought I would miss the OSD but since the resolution is so massive and it is a IPS I don't have a need to mess with the contrast and colors like I did with my old 1080P TN. I downloaded a color profile for it and it looks great. Oh and you also get a glossy screen which is way better than one with a AG coating. And finally you can get a Square Trade warranty(3 years) if you get a pixel perfect version, which is transferable and pays for shipping if you need to file a claim. The $55 it costs would be the cost of shipping it alone.

$555, not sure if I'd be willing to pay that amount to the administrator of the website, not the seller green-sum directly. $550+$5 fee is kind of steep. Just my $0.02.
Still a good price though for a 120Hz, but still a gamble being a A-. Just wished it was pixel perfect and matte screen.

Last month they were selling them for about $465...

For those looking to get one, the Admin organizing the group buy will have another 200 pcs available in later on today...

Don't know if it is supply vs demand and the seller or factory taking advantage... or the Admins planning use the extra cash to start up their own USA company to sell these montiors...

Actually I don't notice it in normal use and am surprised I saw it at all. I had a black screen in a dark room at the time. I am interested in the why and how of the defect, not as a problem.

I now believe its a hole in the Liquid Crystal layer. Explains why the remaining 70% of that green sub pixel works normally.

A lot of people advised me to massage the area as for a normal stuck pixel, but if I'm correct, this is imposible to fix. Still VERY satisfied with purchase.

Im actually surprised they arent selling for more. I have been fretting over either a 27" 120hz 1080p TN panel (~$600)vs. a 27" 1440p 60hz IPS display (~$750).

This makes it easy for me because it combines all these technologies (1440p, IPS, 120hz) and is actually CHEAPER than the other two choices.

Yes i know they are A- displays, but for me and most non-professionals, any imperfections will hardly be noticed, if at all. Dead or stuck pixels used to bother me years ago when i was using a 19" monitor, and each pixel was triple the size it is today. On a display with 2560x1440 res, i doubt ill be able to notice a few dead pixels, or even a little backlight bleed. Not to mention anyone going from TN to IPS is going to be impressed at how much better an IPS display looks than whatever theyre using.

If demand was this high, if they were smart, they would have charged much more. I saw them change the price from 465 to 555 while waiting for the sale to start and i actually was relieved it wasnt something i couldnt afford.
 
I know what you are saying... The colors/brightness are AWESOME! Looks so much better than my 1920x1200 TN display monitor...

I've been borrowing my friend's 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitor while he's on vacation... I DON"T WANT TO GIVE IT BACK!:'(

His has multiple inputs (HDMI, DVI, VGA, Display Port), but I don't notice any input lag or ghosting at all and it doesn't affect my BF3 gaming one bit. It's only 60Hz but I always turn off V-Sync for gaming...😀:thumbsup:

Seriously, once you go IPS you don't want to go back...😱

I guess most people don't but I look at dark screens quite a bit. I ignore webpage colors and force the background to black.

I was tempted to buy one of these until looking at some threads on another forum, which was filled with pictures of these monitors that had back light bleed one after the other. In fact I know of at least one ebay seller that says it can't be avoided...

Want darkness? I have an 8 year old FW900. It does black very well, just not very bright white anymore 😛

Yes they are A- either because of backlight bleed, bad pixels or color acuracy. If a customer buys one that is pixel perfect than it will definitely have one or both of the other two problems. I know some people would have a problem with the bleed just not the vast majority. The increased sharpness from the 2560x1440 resolution makes me forget about the minor defects though. Even old games look good now. I played a few games of Rise of Nations and it looks pretty good to me at high resolution. I don't think I can go back to 1080P now as it would seem blurry.
 
So the argument is that you should reject the product because of where it's sold?

I believe that is a type of logical fallacy?

When you can't attack the merits of the thing itself, you attack other things that aren't directly related to the thing itself. Like killing a messenger when he carries a bad message.

they work as advertised, all risks are known before purchasing, i couldn't care less where they are sold from in SK

Not that I don't trust his opinion(after all, I don't even know him), but I put more weight on the many, many happy people who have actually bought and own these monitors. I just bought a catleap on ebay and am looking forward to getting it. This was one of the harder decisions I have made about my computer purchases. I value my money and spend considerable time researching items before pulling the trigger. In the end this purchase required a leap of faith, but there is no way I would spend $1k or more on a comparable name brand monitor, so it was this or some name brand of lesser resolution.
