Anyone else disappointed with C&C Generals?

I just got it and I am very disappointed. The 3D engine is pretty nice and the interface is much better than Emperor (ugh, that game was horrible) though it still needs some work. That's not why I'm disappointed though.... what happened to all the videos between each mission???? There is almost no story line at all. The storyboard and videos really added to the enjoyment of the Command and Conquer series. I would finish a mission just to know what was going to happen next. It's really hard to find enjoyable games these days. They spend all their time on eye candy and not on gameplay. This is why I still have my Geforce 2. There are no games worth playing that won't work w/ my video card. I've decided to stop buying new games..... :|

I really liked Red Alert 2. And I also liked Yuri's Revenge. Generals was just BLEH. It really needed a good storyline.

Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun absolutely sucked. Generals I beileve is a step in the right direction, you have to play the Zero Hour Expansion pack, not sure if its absolutely worth the price considering online play sucks. They are alot of mismatchs in the game such as; your opponet is china, he sells the command center while your attacking it. Verison Mismatch error and the guy who sold it wins

I liked Generals at first but eventually it got too repetitive for my taste though.

I thought that Generals was ok, but not great. I love loading a Humvee up with a sniper and 4 rocketmen.

i've been dissapointed with c&c for a long time. they should have atleast givenyou the option of blizzard control scheme back during starcraft pride held em back with a lousy interface.

I got the Zero Hour expansion pack and the skirmish games are a lot harder than plain ol Generals

Well one thing is budget, and most of the staff responsible for the FMV, and Audio at Westwood were let go when EA shut down Westwood Studios.

As much as I hate to admit it, Westwood brought it on themselves. C&C2, Renegade and E&B were all huge failures, that took way to much time and way to much money to make.

Actually, I had an interview with their president, his reasons for shutting down westwood were fairly legit and he justified it very well.

EA is horrid when it comes to support. They have still not fixed the alt-f4 disconnect cheat, you have to buy the exp pack for that. The online play sucks in terms of connecting properly, much less ease of matchmaking.

Didnt care much for generals but RA2 and Yuris Revenge were lots of fun. My roommate and I would find the strangest ways to beat noobs online. Once we made several hundred Russian ore miners and their a$$.

My friend and I had plenty of fun doing multiplayer w/ TS. Not sure why ev'one hated it. *shrugs*
Similarly, RA2/YE is a kick, too. DeeZire put out a mod that made it even better. Bought Generals, but haven't played it yet.

Generals was a fun game but the net code flat out sucked, 6 player on 100 megabit lan would desync and lag 90% of the time
