Battlefield 2 is a giant pile of "meh". I'm not loyal to EA, but I will purchase good games they release.

BF2 is not a good game, imo.

Is this because you suck at this game?

No, I'm not done w/ EA and BF2 doesn't need a patch. Completely enjoy the Battlefield series and its mods.

For BF1943, EA can easily scale the new game up to 64, but they're going to test the waters first. People like you howling and moaning about something you haven't even played aren't helping. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Then I won't have to waste my time reading your bs while playing.

"I've been fairly loyal to EA. I bought over 4 copies of Bf2, including one I got FROM REDWOOD HQ whilst testing a BATTLEFIELD game."

Never in my time of testing with EA over the battlefield series, or pretty much in any game, have I EVER seen them do such a drastic change as to add 40 people to the game. I feel 1943 has less players because they want to try to pull off the same feel as COD4 while ripping off IP from battlefield, and making changes to an already amazing series, or because of new engine limitations......... I don't want another fucking rehash of CODX with planes and vehicles, I want battlefield.

Also, if you feel bf2 hardly needs a patch then you need to play the game longer, because coming from someone who played the game religiously since it came out, and was one of the top clans in TWL that the game is severely unbalanced. There's a reason they only allow the stock guns in competition, you know. I have an easy 6.0 KDR every time I use the g36e or c or even pkm. Awesome balance! This is aside from the fact that all the most popular servers go down at least 2-3 times a day. I seriously won't even go into J-10's (fuck wake now).

I won't buy it, that's the whole purpose of this thread. L2read?

I stopped buying Battlefield stuff waaaay back in '05. (I still bought EA games if the demo was good and had no install limits) Battlefield 2 was the worst $55 (after tax) that I have ever spent. The only thing that I enjoyed was the headset that came with it.

I've been playing BF2 for years, and before that played BFV, BF1942, and have messed around with BF2142 for a few months here and there. BF2 has never crashed on me that I recall. Game glitches and design problems are many, but the point is: what else replaces it? The combination of play space and game mechanic just isn't precisely reproduced by any other game. It has its good and bad points, but it has carved out a strong following because of that uniqueness.

The BF2 experience is definitely unique which is why I put up with the lagfest menus and the CTDs. There still isn't a single game out right now that has the same massive multiplayer experience with modern weapons that BF2 offers.

I'd have to agree with several things here too. I bought ETQW hoping it would serve as a replacement for BF2, but I wasn't a fan of hearing Strogg foes that sound like Sesame Street's Cookie Monster babble all day. Not to mention the movements are too amplified and unnatural compared to BF2.

It goes to say that there is definitely a great mixture of map area, mechanics/movements, and audible signatures. I still think it looks great too, especially when you load up the plethora of higher AA modes that modern graphic cards can push.

I used to be very frustrated with some things though. I've had desktop crashes in the past, but as far as hackers getting on and owning people there was only one incident I've experienced in the past year or so. Also, when I did have desktop crashes or issues with the game even initiating (like it did when I upgraded my GPU) a reinstall of the game cleared the issue up. In fact, some of the issues I get with it are more related to Punkbuster than the actual game.

Edit: Seems a lot of people don't buy from EA anymore. But do all of the people here who claimed they hate EA stay away from cutting edge graphics available through titles such as Crysis?

For me BF2 was excellent for the first six months. It offered me and my clan buddies plenty of depth and nothing beats working your way up the scaffolding on the dam with guys in your squad on TS working together.

Sadly it all went to shit when they practically gave away all the unlocks for the whingey bastard 'casual' gamers that could not be arsed to work for the unlockable weapons. Choosing your next class unlock made you think about where you wanted to be and made it more special when you had 6 other guys in your community playing different roles.

Other factors such as the arty spam and 'dive to prone' 1 shotting drove me to the point of smashing my disc into pieces.

Yes i need to manage my anger better.

April 8th, 2009 Patch update from DICE employee "Bazajaytee" on forums.electronicarts.co.uk

Battlefield 2 1.50 Status
Firstly, sorry I have been away for so long, its been a busy time. So here as per request in a number of threads here is an update to where we are with 1.50.

* Yes its still coming
* We have been working on a few things to do with DRM as old versions of Battlefield 2 use an old version of SafeDisc
* We have had a number of last minute hacks appear which we have made fixes for to help stabalise the servers.
* We have a minor issue to solve with the Chinese version of the game.

While I can't give an exact date, we are aiming to release our first Beta towards the end of April '09 as long as everything else goes well.

I, and many others on this forum were done with EA years ago. Good riddence.

Yep I made the mistake of buying BF2142 when it came out and haven't bought an EA game since.

bf1942 and desert combat were great. bf:v was where it all went to crap.

You lost me at "almost".

Seriously, BF 1942 was buggy POS when it was first released and Battlefield 2 was no different. Not to mention the multiple $20-$30 add-ons they eventually bundle with the original game for pennies on the dollar. They lost me after Battlefield 2's release for that series of games.

boycotting will do nothing.

remember when Blizzard said they'd release a 1.09 patch for Diablo 2...yeah, that took well over 4 years if I recall.
