BF2 is not a good game, imo.

Is this because you suck at this game?

no, it's because it's garbage as an fps.

What would you classify as a good FPS? Counter Strike Source? CoD4?

remember when Blizzard said they'd release a 1.09 patch for Diablo 2...yeah, that took well over 4 years if I recall.

That would be 1.10. 1.09 was mostly balance and bug fixes, but 1.10 completely changed the game by adding synergies, not to mention all those super-powerful runewords everyone uses. Diablo 2 as we know it now is based on the 1.10 patch. It's practically a different game.

Diablo 2 was pretty polished on its release date. Delaying a 9th minor patch is forgivable. I would dare say that release day games from Blizzard are more stable, playable, fun, and bug free than end-of-life games from EA are after multiple (and typically horrendously large) patches.

Best multi-player fps I've played. Got me into TWL, CAL, large clan scrims.

Meh, at least it will be out at the end of this Month. I just reinstalled it... only to remember the fun of 1000 grenades being thrown constantly with a average life expectancy of 20 seconds.

Project Reality is where it's at 🙂 While I'm awaiting Arma2 that is.

Actually, Diablo 2 was pretty buggy at release and bnet was unusable for a couple patches. If you really scrutinize it, you could say D2 has some near game-breaking multiplayer bugs even today at patch 1.12. I recall WoW had some significant problems at release too (I never played WoW, but there was a lot of complaining on the forums I visited).

More info from the linked thread on the patch:

Details on the changes to the DRM:

What we are looking at doing for Battlefield is removing the requirement for the DVD to be in the drive during boot up. Whether we can get this going is what we are checking. It won't limit your installs on other machines or limit how many times you can install though.

Change Log:

How about widescreen support.

I can't quote it because I am at work, but this is addressed in the thread. IIRC, he said they would "try" to get it in the final patch, but it wouldn't be in the first beta.

Edit, Here's the quote:

It won't be there for the Beta but its not ruled out for being added in time for final release.

Given their track record for timely fixes, it's a looooong shot.

anyone done with EA? it's more like they're done with us, they're focusing on consoles and casual games now.

Yeah, I had my first experience w/ actually dealing w/ EA support last month. Try a google search for "Mirrors Edge won't run past the splash screen." No less than 5 emails with them. I bought this game and the freakin' thing would not start out of the box. Uninstalled/reinstalled thrice. Tried 3 driver updates..... Not with a Physyx patch, not with a regular patch. Not in a box. Not with a fox. Not in a house. Not with a mouse. I tried reg edits. I tried turning off multisampling. Disabling the actual splash screen. Etc. Could not get this thing to work until like the 5th actual "user" hack worked by dropping a whole bunch of DLL's in one of the main files that EA apparently didn't utilize or whatever.

Well they did add widescreen support in the latest 2142 patch, so I don't see what'd be so difficult to throw it in this one.

Perhaps it is time for the OP to revise the ETA in his Topic Summary?

Here is a small insight just for you guys.
YES I am looking to release it tomorrow (21st April). All being well on the md5 regeneration in the morning and another quick check and we'll be getting beta servers up and running in time for European peak player time.

I'll update you all tomorrow as soon as I know if tomorrow is THE day

I, and many others on this forum were done with EA years ago. Good riddence.

Yep I made the mistake of buying BF2142 when it came out and haven't bought an EA game since.

I've got to say, the way they handled BF2 convinced me to stay away from everything following it. Now that they openly want microtransactions and software as a service to be the norm for Online gaming; I say they can go get bent!
