Iron Man 2 reviews

Anyone disappointed with the reviews Iron Man 2 is getting? The reviews for it are totally different than the first one was getting at the same time. That really sucks as I was hoping it was going to be good but I always forget how sequels suck 99% of the time.

It is generally true that sequels are not as good as the movie that inspired them, but when the first one sucked, the sequel sucking is guaranteed. I really don't think you have a thread here.

I find that any movie that's really commercially hyped and marketed will usually blow. It means they know word of mouth won't work.

Also, I really really hate females in action movies, they're almost always just so damn terrible. Except Hit Girl.

Any movie that Samuel Jackson touches goes to sh*t lately. Not saying that it's his fault, but every time they write up a ridiculous plot or story, they always think SJ is perfect for the part.

haha. this is pretty much cannon, isn't it?

Has there ever been a sequal that was better than the first? Or even "as good"?

Godfather II is the first obvious example that comes to mind.

Empire, both LoTR sequels, X-Men, Spiderman, Dark Knight (by most people's standards--but I prefer B Begins; and still prefer Keaton/Nicholson above all others)...

Going to see it tonight in Imax. Just looking forward to seeing iron man and war machine tear it up!

I fail to understand the issue. Disappointed by the reviews??? You either agree with the reviewer or do not, what do you mean disappointed?

Wolverine wasn't good at all. It was absolutely terrible. The script was just way to awful. It made X-men 3 look good. And the worst part is it was a movie about wolverine and they still fucked it up. He could have just smoked cigars for two hours and would have been better.

I liked Wolverine, mainly because of the girl.

I assumed he meant he was emotionally entangled in the success of the film, so naturally he wants people to like it.

Aliens, Terminator 2, Pirates of the Carribean 2, Spiderman 2, ...... and the ones mentioned already

There are a lot of good sequels out there imo. Its the third part in the series that is almost guaranteed to fail. Just look at the 3rd part in the movies above.

how many good trilogy movies are there? i can probably count them on one hand.

The bold ones are all very wrong. Spiderman 2 is correct though, very good film. Same goes for X2 actually.

and i meant to type PotC 2. 3 was horrible.

2 was even worse

I hate when people think of a new IP, which is decent on its own and has a complete story, then plan a trilogy around it once it becomes successful. The second episode of the trilogy ALWAYS sucks, because writers apparently don't know how to fragment stories well.
