I buy a pair of these every spring. Sometimes the color changes, but topsiders are a staple.

Holy Sasquatch! :p

My local thrift shop has a pair of shoes that are size 20, brand new. I don't remember the width, but they're wide as hell. The price is great if you have the feet to fill them; $14 if I remember right. I bet they cost a small fortune getting them custom made

Forget a 10 gallon hat! Put a trash bag in that boot and you'd probably be carrying 10 (real) gallons. (although it would be heavy!)

I figured the width on a lot of your feet would be EE. ;)

I used to buy Sketchers Alleycat for years, probably had 5 pairs. Since I workout more, I dont wear them much. Im still wearing my Nikes from 2002 that are starting to look very embarrassing.

Sneakers, brown dress shoes, black dress shoes. I get a new pair of each every year - same brand/style every time. Sneakers, a little more often than every year.

I'm not sure how some of you can make a pair of sneakers last for multiple years, unless you have multiple pairs that you wear equally - or unless you sit around a lot. My shoes and sneakers look quite worn by the time I replace them. And the soles on my sneakers are quite worn out.

I don't wear sneakers. I have boat shoes, Birkenstock sandals for "good" wear, Teva sandals for "tough" wear, and combat boots.

Yep, but more often. I usually wear out the soles in 6-8 months. Been buying the same shoes for the last 4 years or so.

Most of my shoes last ~6 months, 12 months tops before there are holes through the soles.

Really? Pick up your gawd-dammed feet when you walk. Quit shuffling your feet.

I see lots of people doing that when they walk nowadays...

I couldn't tell you when I wore a hole in the sole of my shoes. I usually wear out the uppers before I get a hole in the sole. I'm attentive enough that when the sole starts to get thin, I either have them re-soled or replace the shoes. My workboots do wear the soles. Working construction, I was always walking on rough ground, broken rock and/or concrete. Those kinds of materials will wear the sole out quicker than normal walking.

The soles on your shoes should last much longer than 6 months-1 year.

I walk a lot and pick up my feet. I have to resole them ~12mo, depending on the sole.

I would buy the same pair over and over, but I don't think any of the shoes I've ever bought have been in production long enough to do that. I get a few years out of my shoes, assuming they're made well, and I presently only own two pairs of shoes, plus snowboots.

I've had the same pair for 2 years now. I'll continue to buy these until I can't find they anymore.

Not unless you consider buying a second pair of Chuck Taylors in a different colour the same.

Really liking Timberlands right now, may get another one when I go shoe shopping again, but definately not the same pair.

EE makes up only about 1/6 of this forum's population. Another 1/6 would be CompE and 1/2 would be CS, the remainder is likely CIS, MIS, etc.

That represents 44,948.166666666666666666666666667 people. To me that's quite a few. ;)

I like my adidas, they're my default "I'm a guy and don't want to say anything" shoe.

surprised at the number of people wearing boat shoes in this thread, I didn't think ATOT had that many geriatrics.

I couldn't imagine buying the same shoe year in and year out, though. it's nice to change things up and find new styles or colors... I will admit to generally sticking within the same brands, though (etnies, vans, adidas, and doc martens)

I've got 2 pairs of dressy shoes (black/brown) and they're both doc martens. need to buy new ones one of these days, though. heels are going on one of them and the other are too big on me since losing weight.

When I ran a lot, I really loved the Adidas New Yorker sneakers. They stopped making them before I got another pair. Back then, I was lucky if a pair of sneakers lasted more than 3 months before I wore them out.

I have extreme difficulty finding shoes that fit, so when I do I'll just buy multiple pairs right there.

Well, my soles wear out really quick, but it has more to do with how I run/walk. I tend to land on the outside portion of my foot, so that part of the shoe will show major wear after 6 months or so.
