I'm worried about some of these people. they seem very ill-prepared and very idealistic to do what they're doing.

I wholeheartedly agree with their cause, but the ends do not justify the means here. I consider them nothing more than eco terrorists, and support any vessals right to protect itself.

I watched one because I was flipping through channels, caught the show, and wondered if they were actually going to do some real open seas piracy shit with real weapons and what not...well of course that wasn't the case, so it took so much away from the allure of it. Combine that with the fact you basically have a bunch of hippies who don't really know what they're doing mixed with a select few who do, it doesn't seem like they'll really be able to do anything significant when considering they basically need absolute perfect execution in order for their non lethal tactics to be effective at all.

i agree with Kobota - I support their cause but am suspect of their methods.

Very interesting show. Kudos to the crew for taking action for a cause they believe in. Hopefully their actions and the awareness created from the show places more pressure on the Japanese government to end their hunt.

they sent a kodiak boat and a helicopter to the japanese ship at night. the kodiak boat doesn't try to contact anyone, even when the helicopter is flying low and directly in front.

subsequently, they have to call the japanese ship for help.

imo, this show is backfiring and showing what kind of morons support their cause

I do not, however, agree with the tactics of the people in the show. Animal Planet is bordering precariously on the border of advocating eco-terrorism.

Every time I start thinking that, they'll show some whale thrashing around with a harpoon in it, being dragged to a ship with "research" painted on the side of it. I dislike being taken for a fool.

I watch in hopes that they hurt themselves doing something stupid. Like when the lost the one zodiac.... Fucking idiots were freaking out, captain wouldnt wake up, no one listened to orders, and the zodiac forgets to call in for hours.
They even called the whaling ship to see if they had seen the zodiac. Meanwhile, when they were calling asking for the whalers help, the zodiac was throwing stink bombs on the whaling ship and harrassing the shit out of them.

I love whales and all that shit, but fuck are these people insane.

The show is good lol material for the shipmates here. They follow very little of the standard US Coastguard regulations, and their attempts are laughable. I dislike whaling activities, but again, I also believe these guys are idiots, and would LOVE to see a Japanese ship just fire at them or something.
