I heard you can't fast forward, and it doesn't support WMV/Divx.

How about there's been one for 2 years now? (Zen Portable Media Center).

The Zen Vision is a better video player, but the iPod seems like a better choice if you are going to use the device mainly as a music player that you use to watch the occasional video. The iPod Video is not only $100 cheaper for the same 30GB capacity, but it also seems like it has a better form factor that is less bulky and much easier to work with one hand. The video iPod is not the ultimate portable video player by any means, but it might be the device that finally creates a decent market for portable video.

I just picked up a 30GB white one yesterday and have been playing around with it most of last night and this morning. The video quality is actually pretty decent, although the battery life when playing video is definitely on the short side. I like the form factor a lot better than the old 20GB Photo - the new one is much slimmer. The screen is also very nice looking for a portable player.

I've already found some free video content like the DigitalLifeTV show, so I'm not having to drop $2 for every video I watch. I figure that the Podcasting community will probably take the video ball and run with it, so in a few months there ought to be a lot of free video content to use with it.

Overall, I'm really happy with the new version of the iPod. Like I said, the Zen Vision may be a better video player, but the iPod is a much better all around machine - cheaper, smaller, lighter and much easier to use (I have had no issues at all with iTunes as far as transferring music and video).

if you want to watch movies on the go, this screen is still too small... as far as a music player.. it wins for me because of the size.. and interface. but do we really need YAipoddebateT? If you don't have a local apple store and can't wait for apple.com, you're SOL for the time being probably
