Now it only takes around 3 mins to burn a CD anyways, so I dont mind...

Nope, can't say that I do yakko

I haven't left my computer alone while burning since I got the first plextor with burnproof. Now I always am listening to music/surfing the web/working in photoshop/3 message windows popped up all while burning. I haven't had a coaster in YEARS.

Lets see what I was doing on my box:

1. Ripping an audio CD at 21x
2. Had two LAME sessions encoding the recently ripped files.
3. Playing back the mp3s from the previous session.
4. UnRARing an archive to the network.
5. Terminal Services into my server
6. Chatting via Trillian.

Its nice having SMP and lots of ram.

burning doesn't stop me from doing anything.

i give all my devices their own channel, so it doesn't really cause much slow down.
and besides, even if it did, my liteon's burnproof will cover my butt.

I very rarely get a coaster (once I found the optimal speed for burning) but getting 50 discs for $15, hell I wouldn't care any way!
Dude, you got ripped OFF! ;) Try 200 for $2 then you can cover you walls with coasters...

My best deal was 100 for $10 but they came with slimline cases.

Ripping and burning all night... lmao.

Yeah there's nothing special about ripping and burning :)P) at the same time, this is a crazy pointless thread. Kinda stupid actually. I have an old 8x4x32 HP CD-Writer which doesn't have any sort of burnproof technology, and I run WinXP on only 256MB PC133. So you can imagine, I don't have shietloads of free memory or performance to pass around. I can multitask while burning, just fine. I can surf, chat, kazaa, play games, anything. I don't see what the big deal is with "multitasking". Mutlitasking has been around since Windows 95. Gimme a break. :p You only ever make a coaster if A) You're a moron, B) You thrash your HD violently while burning, C) your burner sucks ass ;)

Everyone told me that you shouldn't run programs while burning a CD.. Of course, I'm not one to listen, so I never do so. NERO is a resource hog and usually I just do something else for 5 minutes and let it do it's own thing. FireBurner is a different thing, it runs in the background, I can have everything going, works flawlessly.

i still do it with my 4x cdrw drive. with no burn proof. dont suffer from overburn anymore since my system is plenty fast. time for an upgrade to 48x though. :D

Hmm, the most I've ever done while burning a cd was ripping a dvd of mine to DivX while downloading from a couple of ftps while playing music while getting 45fps in RocketArena.. not too shabby if you ask me..
mind you, this is back when i was still using a GF2GTS:)

I don't get it. Even Adaptec EZ-CD Creator 4 burnt my Warcraft3 CD... and yes, it works just fine. I just had to install an additional file to my PC (I refuse to call it a crack since I own a legitimate copy of the software and I only burned it so I could avoid scratching up the original) in order to run from the burned copy, but the file I used was under 1MB and was easy to find on the internet.
