My aunt passed away 2 years ago from alcoholism, basically liver failure. The last 2-3 years of her life were just miserable. My mother was her older sister and helped raise her when they lived in Germany. I guess times were pretty tough after the war. Anyway, my mother has been constantly beating herself up because she couldn't help her just one more time. It's hard to even think about it now. I can't even imagine dealing with that and PTSD also.

I have been on the receiving end of the work you paramedics give...I know what a blessing you and your profession are to a community, and family.

I wanted to the job when i was younger. I took the courses and even went out with them.

UNTIL we came to a 911 call of a little boy who was abused and mutilated by his "father". I couldnt go on.

i always wondered about the guys that did it for a living. not an easy job at all.
