LOL - that's like 5%Originally posted by: silverpig
H2O2 is a fairly common disenfectant. Ask at a pharmacy to see what the concentrations are.

A hobby shop isn't going to carry this stuff ... he's talking liquid fuel rocket engines & high-concentration H2O2 is very nasty stuff.[/L]Originally posted by: notfred

Well, they sell nitromethane and $6,000 scale model jets at the hobby shop over here, I didn't think liquid fueled rocket supplies were out of the question.

Here is likely the kind of rocket KDOG is contemplating: H2O2 + Silver Catalyst

Hmmm ... I don't know anything about nitromethane, but the MSDS I just googled up doesn't look to good! I'm suprised its available in a hobby shop, especially in CA.
In any case, the really high concentration H2O2 is very nasty stuff. Very corrosive & flammable.
Flash Point: Noncombustible.
Auto ignition Temperature: None
Hydrogen peroxide's chemical formula is H2O2. When it comes into contact with silver, the silver acts as a catalyst. The reaction frees the extra oxygen atom to produce water, and also generates a lot of heat. The heat turns the water into steam, which the engine can eject at a very high speed through a rocket nozzle.
The 90% is sold in 300 lb. double wall alum. drums no charge on the drums for the first fifteen days everyday there after is $ 50.00 per day per drum!
The 90% from 1 to 5 drums at 5.00 per pound X 300 = $ 1500.00 per drum
FOB the FMC plant in Philadelphia or Canada.

Yup, thats it. Thanks, good link. I wonder how much you'd need to get into orbit?

Not likely ... the Isp is to low. You'd have to have absurd fuel mass ratio.

H2O2 is not flammable. That doesen't mean that it can't produce energy, though.

BTW Bridgeton? Carls Corner! Used to summer in a little town called Harrisonville, not too far from you. Grandfather had a peach orchard.
