AnyBody know How I can Check my Email from Work?

I'm trying to check my university's email from werk, but the network nazis have blocked the url and IP. I got around that by using Thunderbird and retrieving from the POP server... But now they have blocked that as well. :(

Any ideas?

i may be able to do that via VNC, but my pc is off right now...

It won't help now but setup your machine at home with VNC. Problem solved.

I wonder why they decided to block the university's site. Ever thought about asking? They might have been blocking certain chunks of IPs for spam reasons and the IP of the university might fall in that range. That is just a guess. However we have had that problem at work. Although it is pretty rare.

They are just blocking all webmail interfaces. I got by for a while b/c that wasn't a key word in my university's mail scheme, but eventually they caught on. It uses mailweb in the url instead..

if you got hosting try setting up your own webmail. uebimau is the one I use.

Just make sure you password protect the folder it is installed in

and create a symbolic links called pictars or something....!

i can't vnc from work...which sucks. also tried the webvnc and that didn't work. i think my cmopany blocks all url that has mail in the address..sucks.

That's what they do here. Why can't you VNC from work?

My company is same way...
they block all webmail except for the web interface for our exchange server..

My old company blocked everything mail related as well!!!! Total assholes. I hated them.

Anyways the only way around it would be to do it through proxies but that probably would get you fired in a heartbeat.

my company blocked all those sites too. I guess too many idiots were downloading viruses from their home email.

btw if your job blocks those sites, you will probably get canned if you circumnavigate and get caught.

As an administrator I can tell you why they're blocked. Too many morons getting viruses on the network from their personal email.

That said, I can still check mine :p
