I'm cool with all the network guys... So I'm not worried about that. How can I do it through proxies?Originally posted by: MrMaster
My old company blocked everything mail related as well!!!! Total assholes. I hated them.
Anyways the only way around it would be to do it through proxies but that probably would get you fired in a heartbeat.
I understand that completely and don't have a problem with it. Most of the ppl I work with still have spyware infested PCs and they have been dense enough to bring programs from home on floppies... with viruses laced within the floppies... :roll:Originally posted by: Yossarian
my company blocked all those sites too. I guess too many idiots were downloading viruses from their home email.
Hmm.. I know the mail server is running on a Unix-based OS... I just need to figure out how to telnet in...Originally posted by: HardcoreRobot
all the university accounts i have had allowed for telnet or ssh access
If you're THAT cool with all of the network guys, why don't you get them to hook you up?Originally posted by: MrNutz

It says it's advertiser supported... i'm sure that means banners, but do you get any spam too?Originally posted by: RossMAN
It is FREE, I think it's the last option.
I repeat IT IS FREE!
It's not that simple... they still have lay down a general rule for all accounts. but they wouldn't give me too much of a problem if i could outsmart it... as long as I don't pass the wealth of knowledge.Originally posted by: Jzero

As an IT professional, I can tell you that any place blocking webmail is doing it because THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO CHECK YOUR PERSONAL MAIL AT WORK. They probably have it blocked to prevent users from opening virus-infected emails.
It's also a good way to get in trouble with the higher-ups.

They are just blocking all webmail interfaces. I got by for a while b/c that wasn't a key word in my university's mail scheme, but eventually they caught on. It uses mailweb in the url instead..
