wow, that's surprising. I always thought all Texans wanted to live and die in Texas... and thought they all despised New York! There goes my stereotyping again, guess i should have learned to never do that. >>

Allow me to revive that stereotype, TEXAS RULES!!!
7th Generation TEXAN here baby!
Seriously though, I never figured out how lucky we are living in Texas until I lived in other places like Chicago, Denver, Seattle, and LA.
Texas cities are unique in many ways. Example. Chicago housing is extremely old and cramped. People live in small vertical thin houses with multiple levels but the houses are not very big.
Texas houses are spread out and wide which I prefer.
The restaurant scene is far greater than any place I have ever seen.
The road system is better than say Chicago because oyou are not fighting 200 year old road paths that dont allow for the kind of traffic we are used to.
And I really believe the attitude in sunny states is far better than states where its cloudy. To put my psychotherpy hat for a second, I find people who live in sunnier states are generally more happy than those who are say in the north where its cold and cloudy.
I know its gets hotter than hell here in the summer but I believe most people prefer extreme heat than extreme cold.
And the service in and around Texas is FAR FAR FAR better than most places.
For example, I just went on an Alaskan cruise. GREAT cruise however the service in the dining room was extremely lackluster especially in the drink department. On a boat your stuck with tea unless you want to pay more. Thats ok I like tea. Apparently too much though because it took FOREVER to get a second glass. In Dallas leaving a glass empty is a big no no. I know, I was a waiter for 3 different restaurants down here and it was #1 priority. And I think its a cultural difference more than a problem. Same in other cities too. Different places emphasize different customs and decor. I'm happy where I am. I grew up here and I'm used to the mentality and I prefer it. That may play more of a role than anything else.
