Yea, Angelo's is pretty good BBQ. They've got cheap beer also. I remember the last time I was there, we were playing quarters(that's where you try to bounce a quarter into a 32 ounce beer, if you miss you chug it) and my buddy lost four times in a row. Then he blew his BBQ and all the beer he drank all over the table.

Stay away from "On the Border." It's just another mediocre chain. I don't understand why people recommend these dumps. Soon, that's all we will have. Expand your horizons. The loads of money some of you pay for rehashed crap would go better towards keeping the true, authentic 'mom and pop' restaurants open.

By the way, Texmaster, I attended and graduated from Jesuit also. Most of the people there are no different in any respect to those in Plano. I did, however, think it was a good school. Not the best in the area but good enough to be among the best. And what point are you trying to make in saying Jesuit wom the fights? Big fvcking deal. That's the reason I didn't have an absolute love for the school. Things of no importance, but rather stupidity, are placed above all other things among the students. The fights were pointless and a true measure of the some of the idiocy many Jesuit students possess. Twenty people beating the crap out of two people, which is the way Jesuit students usually handled things, says what? "Men for others," my ass.

I second Campisi's. It's down the road from SMU. It's always packed at lunch and dinner. They have great food too. But even better is La Tratoria Lombardi's. It's near Turtle Creek. A little more expensive (barely) but much better food. Don't confuse it with the mediocre, in comparison, Lombardi's chain around Dallas though. I still say Daddy Jack's is the best mentioned thus far. But you'll need reservations for there or La Tratoria Lombardi's. Plus, Daddy Jack's is only a few minutes from SMU.

Yeah, Campisi's is pretty good, another good small pizza place is Carmine's Pizza on Coit and Campbell in the Dallas/Plano area. they've got some good NY pizza, but I'm sure you're sick of that already. :)

Off the Subject, Texmaster and Slunk, are there any deceint places in your area for buying computer components? Ft. Worth is way behind the times as far as this goes. There are a couple of places over here but they charge an arm and a leg for components and there selection isn't very good. And don't say Fry's, every time I've bought anything from Fry's I had to return it because of defects.

Yeah, I don't know of very many places to buy computer parts, other than Fry's, Best buy, or Circuit City but everyone knows Fry's is suck.....

On the first Sat. of each month, there's some sort of computer parts fair or something, where there are lots of comp vendors sell parts at cheap prices in downtown. I've never gone myself, but I've heard it's awesome, and it lasts all night. :)

and yes, Carmine's Pizza rox. :)

Maybe we should have a big meet up at Carmine's some night

On the subject of computer parts, there's a place called IMS Computers (they advertise in the Dallas News) that sells all kinds of parts. Good stuff, too, but at a higher price than you'll find at Fry's. They actually sell Iiyama monitors in there.

Personally, I stick to Fry's and absolutely DO NOT buy anything with a return sticker on it already. If I have to I sneak in the back and loot a new box of whatever I'm getting, then that's what I do. I've done that with motherboards, video cards, etc. Just don't buy a damned processor in there.

Also, the Micro Center at Spring Valley and 75 is a good joint to buy components. :D

I'm sorry you have such an opinion of your brothers but it wasn't like that when I was there. Who was your Principal?

I think it is the best in the area when you combine the atmostphere and the academics.

The fighting comment was purely in fun. Notice the Smiley face. Yes we did win more fights when they occurred but again it was not a serious comment. Lighten up.

And you Obviously were not there when Highland park sourounded us at a house party with 200 guys who broke out Tire Irons out of their cars. There were only 60 of us. One of my friends had his arm broken so dont sit there like the all and mighty claiming that Jesuit outnumbers people in fights.

Your comments are extremely inaccurate and border on flat out LYING.

And I'm not really sold you actually went to the school. Your descriptions are very typical of people we went up against on and off the field.

If you did go then you are embarassing yourself and the class you represent.

IMS Comp is a good place! Another just a little FYI is Viking Computers at Beltline and 35 NW corner is GREAT. Especially if you need someone to actually work on it. And Dallas Memory off 75. Thier office is out of a Doctor's office but their prices ROCK. Its where I bought my P4s. :D

There's a big computer flea market every First and Third Saturday of each month. The First Saturday one is in downtown Dallas, off 75 and Ross Ave. I picked up a 256mb stick of PC133 Infineon for $47 which runs at CAS2 2 weeks ago there. The Third Saturday sale is now in the West End, never been to it.

Other than that, I shop online for all my computing needs.

is anyone forgetting the Reunion tower? Go eat at the restraut at the top. I can't describe how to get there, but you can't miss the building. It is skinny and tall, and big and round at the top. There is an elevator that goes to the top, and the restraunt at the top very slowly spinns. Great view......

there is also a good oriental restraunt somewhere, agian i don't know where. its called kabab and kuries?? that is horiblly spelled wrong, mabe someone else can correct me, but they have good food. I think they are either korean or viatnamese, i'm not sure. I think it is somewhere on 75.

another tip: watch out for the drivers. driving speed limit = runn over from behind. try to drive with the traffic, you will have an easier time. and of course, try to avoid rush hour, and avoid major freeways at night, the lanes are not marked very well......

i live in austin, but my sister live up there, and my grandparents used to, so i have been around a little bit up there.

I agree with blueghost75. If your going to drive under 70 mph(113 kph), you'd better be in the slow right-hand lane. And I'll bet you'll have someone riding your bumper in that lane as well. If the traffic is flowing at 75 mph(120 kph) you'd better drive that fast as well.

Heh, tons of responses to this thread already... :)

My 2 cents:

Great places to eat, if you're in Fort Worth:

Mexican - Mi Cocinita, if you can find it. :) TINY little hole in the wall joint but VERY good.

Italian - Salerno's

BBQ - Cousin's BBQ, hands down!

Like the others suggested, there's tons of stuff to do... the museum district, downtown, Stockyards, etc. The traffic is quite a bit lighter here and it's an easy town to find your way around in...

DaveJ, your a man of my own heart. Cousin's is the best BBQ. The Bush's even send out for Cousin's. I was there at the McCart / Westcreek location when George Senior and Barbs ( and a ton of Secret Service Agents) came in for a meal.

Ah but the Republican State party when Bush was up for Governor re-election went for Dickeys Barbecue

<< Oh, Don Pablo's restaurant is O.K. But if you want Authentic Tex-Mex food, go to Joe T Garcia's, it is on the North-side of town, not too far from Billy Bob's. >>

Joe T. Garcia's is some of the best mexican food, Hands down! I lived in Ft. Worth for 4 years and believe me, it doesn't get much better. If you're in the mood for a burger&fries, then go to Under The Tower, it's a little hole in the wall place on Camp Bowie Rd. west of downtown. The best french fries ever. period. Smothered with onions, jalapeño peppers and ranch. mmm-mmm good. Six Flags is pretty neat, downtown Ft. Worth is also _very_ nice. Hope you have fun.
