He did what he could. It was the democrat congress that blocked it.

Never. I like to think I've never had enough bias to subscribe to any particular party, so I don't.

I generally agree with about 30% of each major party. The rest is where they lose me and they jump down the rabbit hole of extremism, imo. I'll do what I can to remain independent in mind, knowing that I don't know everything and that no one else does, either.

Honestly, the idea of having an entirely comprehensive view/belief system that can be so easily summarized has always perplexed me.

Universal Health Care + Flat Income Tax = WIN WIN!

UHC + flat tax are incompatible. You can't have your waffle and eat it too.

umm what?

This clearly is not the case, there is nothing incompatible, unless you are talking ideologically.

Never officially. But I certainly have in my voting.

Oh, and I've NEVER donated a cent to any political party...or to the church.

Oh yeah...Thanks to a sugestion from TehMac, I HAVE been looking into the Populist Party. Much to my surprise, they LIKE Ron Paul...

Would I ever vote for a Populist candidate? I dunno, but not likely. Even if I thought the candidate was the best thing since sex and sliced bread, with our entrenched 2-party system, it'd still be throwing a vote away...and a vote thrown away is just like voting for the opposition.

Are you serious? The Dems are the ones that killed it.

First part of your post is basically me. I've been left-leaning my whole life and I used to be a much bigger Democrat than I am now. This election cycle I've decided that the Democrats aren't perfectly suited to me. Problem is that I disagree with Republicans on pretty much all social issues and I think many of them blatantly disregard the first amendment, so I can't vote for them with a clear conscience.

However, in this particular election, I think we can't afford to have four more years of a Republican presidency. I actually rather like Obama so I will probably vote for him. But to be honest, I like the Libertarian party much more than I like the Democratic party.

So I guess for me it's Dem -> Left-leaning Libertarian who votes with the Democrats when I feel I have a stake in things.

What makes things even harder is I've recently taken up shooting as a hobby, and I don't like the Democrats' stance on gun control (i.e. that we should have it). Just as I see the Republicans ignoring the first amendment, the Democrats ignore the second.

When I was in early college and made no money I was liberal, when I entered the working world and brought in a paycheck I quickly changed to Republican.

Unfortunately, most people only look at the top dog, that's why Bush gets blamed if your kid gets a cold.

I don't feel like he tried hard enough in the press or by compromising. It was a half-assed effort IMO.

HaHa... yea republicans say they are for smaller Gov but it grows faster under republicans then Dems.

When I was younger I was a Republican as everything they SAID sounded good. But in real life the republicans just seem to say what ever will get them into office and then do as they please.

So now a Reg. Dem. voting for Obama this year.
