I was a "Republican" ever since I can remember being introduced to politics (in 3rd grade, 1991). If there were a Capitalistic dictatorship party I might join it.

I originally registered as an independent when I turned 18 in '99, despite the fact that NJ has closed primaries (registered R's can only vote for Republican candidates, registered D's can only vote for Democrats, and independents / third parties with no primaries can't vote).

I switched from independent to Republican for this election cycle after NJ's primaries got pushed up to super Tuesday because I wanted to vote for McCain in the republican primary, figuring NJ was in the bag for Hillary no matter who I voted for.

(prior to this year, NJ's primaries were always held long after the race was decided, so it never really mattered)

I've technically always been a democrat, but I've gone from bleeding heart liberal to a more center minded version, with some views skewing slightly right.

No options for switching to/from independent?

"some party that won't win"

Independent isn't a party, though. Republican, Democrat, Independent, and other.

Maybe he's in the Independence Day party, Bill Pullman 4 Pres!

lol

You could've checkmated him by stating that your subject was asking about changes to political *parties* and if he choose independent, he didn't answer the question. :p

Rep->Dem

This happened as soon as I denounced religion and felt that my religious friends were whacko's...

...yet surely enough they are doing better than I in almost every aspect of life. :(

I went from Republican to not giving a shit. Every election I become more and more apathetic about American politics. This election is the worst ever. Bush 3.0 vs Slick Willie 2.0
