Hi, I hope I can get effective answers here as I am really desperate for getting information on how to be able to jump higher. I am not quiet tall, just mere 5'6" , but I believe performance is better than height. I am a basketball player and I do train everyday, mostly foot works. I also wear ankle weights but I am not seeing any improvement.

Lower BF%, start squatting 3x week and maybe do calf raises as well. 6 months into starting strength and I can at least touch the backboard. I am fairly high bf% so after I cut I bet I can touch the rim for the first time ever.

I wouldn't squat 3x a week if I was playing basketball. I'd do 2 max. The jumping is already tough on the body.

I used to jump at the rim during basketball practice. We had 6 around the outside of the gym and I'd jump at the corner ones. In 9th grade I started not being able to touch the rim. At the end of the season, I could jump to 10' 4". Probably not 6' yet at that time.

AS much as strength is a piece of it, so is form. You can jump higher through practice.

Yes very true.

OP you have to also dedicate time and practice to jumping itself.

The strength work is in addition to your time spent jumping.

I could not touch the top either until I started using the universal gym leg press.

It took me 6 moths to be able to slam dunk but happy I finally did it.

Just playing more and doing box jumps, etc helped me a lot.

At 5'9'' I used to be able to get rim. Not anymore as I'm a lot heavier now.
