Aren't most hubs nowadays as small as the Ethernet ports will permit? I don't remember seeing a lot of 5 port hubs that are in 3 foot wide housings.

3-com used to make min switches that were 1 gang plate large. about 4 ports, that fit into a single gang outlet.

i need something for travel....

I'm going abroad this summer and need/want to bring the following

1. Vonage Adapter
2. Cordless Phone
3. Airport Express (for laptop)
4. Laptop

The smaller the better

Linksys has a small wireless travel router, but i already have a airport express on the way and need to split the ethernet before it hits the airport.

Yeah, I have one of those. My 5 port switch could fit into the palm of my hands, it's pretty small.

your vonage box should be a router w/3 port switch (assuming it's the linksys), if it's not, they will send you one for free.

Do you already have a router? if not, I'd just pick up a BEFSR41 (they are small and cheap).

3. remove excess ports
4 apply to laptop with duct tape
5 plug other things into it

glad yours works. mine lasted a week, and it's warranty replacement lasted 4 weeks. gave up after that and replaced it with a linksys 8 port switch (still going strong)
