Any specific workouts to lose inches around the butt?

I am a 22 year old male, about 5'2 and 127lbs.

Overall, I am not to unhappy with my body shape and all considering my height. But my ass has always been disproportionally bigger than the rest of me. Even when I graduated high school I was only 104lbs, but even 30s were tight on me. Now I'm not saying my ass is huge or anything, don't get me wrong, I just don't feel it's the same size as the rest of me.

So I've def. put on a lot of muscle mass since high school. I try to keep in shape, although this winter like most winters, I've been slacking off.

But even when I was hitting the gym 3-4 times a week and riding the cycling machine for an hour at a time, I never really noticed any difference in my butt size or shape.

So, any exercises in particular that could trim it up a little bit?

Lol. Well, this in an interesting quandary. I'm sorry, but I don't know any exercises or routines that will help your get rid of a big butt. It's probably more genetic than anything, and I'm not quite sure there is all that much you can do about it. It seems that you workout and such so it wouldn't be extra fat stores, so then there's no real way of focusing on it and shrinking it without shrinking the rest of your body.

I've heard that finger pushes on the back of your throat can be pretty effective, but the exercise can be pretty hard on your teeth.

You always give the bestest advice 😀

You might just have muscular ass genes. My biceps are the same way, they just grow faster than other parts of my body. I must admit I'd prefer to have my genes...

That said, there is no way to spot-reduce fat. When you burn fat, you just burn it wherever you burn it, no choice in the matter. Doing butt exercises like lunges and good mornings will just build more muscle and make your butt bigger.

Sorry there isn't better news for you, dude. You could always hit the weights hard and make the rest of your body proportionate.

Oh well, I thought there might just be a chance but...

At least your responses have gotten a laugh out of me. I've been down with the flu all week. blah.

Wait, so if it is genetic, then there is hope that in the future gene therapy could help me?! Money is no object when we're talking about vanity, right?

Ass gene therapy is priceless. Money in no option! 😀 Haha, maybe bulk up your upper half and even out the bulkiness? 🙂

You can't spot lose fat. You can spot lose muscle by not training the area in question as hard. Maybe you need to look at how many exercises you do that specifically target your glutes (squats, deadlifts, rear lunges). You should know that answer yourself.

Yep, spot reduction is a myth. Working out the area will just affect the muscle under the fat. Eat less until you can see a change.

Uh, no. Don't do this. Eating less will affect your whole physique. He's not worried about fat, Pug, he's worried about volume, whether muscle or fat.

At least you're taking it well. Yes, I believe futuristic gene therapy is your ass's only hope.

"volume"? Hip bone size? If that's the case, then yeah you can't change that, unless you get some high-priced bone surgeon and then it's probably not worth it.

If it is fat, usually, when you lose weight, you lose it first from the places that you first gained it in.. look here.

Oh well. It's not excessively large, it's just not really in proportion to the rest of me. I really don't want to add any more muscle and bulk up, not my thing. I like the thin, fit look myself. I really can't wait for spring though, I just can't get motivated when it's this cold out.

At least my large rump makes for a good cushion in which to sit while playing computer games....
