Any Ruger 10/22 aficionados here?

I kind of thought that this was just a cheap plinking gun but I went to the gun show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds today and stumbled upon a rather large booth devoted to customizing this particular rifle and I went a little crazy.

Now, I happen to own a Ruger 10/22 I bought almost 20 years ago. This is a gun that I've put thousands of rounds through and even used it to cut the top off a Buick...don't ask. I have spent zero money on this gun other than a cheap scope and a set of scope rings. I loathed this gun after I bought it and first tried to clean it but now I'm kind of digging it!

Fast forward to today, I bought a competition barrel and a nice laminated wood stock along with a trigger kit and now I kind of want to get a better scope and a bipod for it. All the parts went on perfectly because Ruger has been manufacturing this gun for decades with little to no change. Have I gone crazy?

I'm more of an all-black polymer guy, but that's a nice wood finish. Got myself a 10/22 carbine not long ago. I'll post details once I get a picture, don't feel like digging it out of the safe tonight.

...cut the top off a Buick? I know you said not to ask, but that statement is just too curious. 😛

I've been looking to pick up a 10/22 to supplement my range fun with the M1A. .22LR is definitely cheaper then .308.

Just waiting for a good deal on one. Was looking at picking up a M&P 15-22 but they're expensive.

That and the scope, mount, & rings for the M1A are probably going to cost me $700. That will come first.

Oooooh the tacsol barrel is freaking amazing. I love my 10/22. I don't have any pictures right now and can't take any at the moment, but I have a checkered polymer stock, tac sol fluted and threaded carbine barrel, harris bipod, sweet 22 scope and the stock trigger group. I might pick up one of the voltquartsen (sp?) triggers at some point but I can't justify the extra cost, and I'm planning on getting a suppressor for it as soon as I have the time to wait.

Nice looking gun you've got there !

I've got a stock beater that has been bungee strapped to a dirtbike, and passed a couple of bricks of ammo. Not picture worthy. A buddy of mine went the whole flash suppressor/folding stock route on his back in the day (1980) Parts sure have changed since then!
Looks good.

lol, went a little crazy indeed. That's a heck of an impulse purchase. Love it.
I have a 10/22 and a Mark II with the bull barrel. And I'm am seriously lusting for their new SR1911.

10/22 for $197 @ walmart

Not bad. My 10/22 is ugly (black polymer stock/stainless) but it's never had an issue. I have the BSA Sweet 22 scope and it's pretty good for an el'cheapo scope. Don't need anything really great on a 10/22 anway.

I'm itching to get a .17HMR (or .22 WMR) for some high velocity, flat shooting plinking.

Kind of like the Mosin modification market now days. But that's just more because they're crazy powerful guns for dirt cheap prices. There's a site I was looking at before that had really nice aftermarket wood laminate stocks like yours for the Mosins.

I have the same one, I think it looks good.
I have the Volquartsen Hammer Kit though I still have to install it.

that is the one i have

That's the one everyone has...

Until they customize it. I've had mine for almost 20 years and it looked exactly like the gun you can buy from wallyworld today except that the trigger assembly is all plastic on the newer guns. Mine is metal.

I've had a couple 10/22's over the years, never had a problem with em. Had this one for about 10 years now, still fun (and cheap!) to shoot. A ton of aftermarket parts (triggers, actions, barrels, etc) for em.

My old man picked up one of those 10/22 Chargers but haven't shot it yet.

Love my Ruger 10/22. I am just kind of sad about how much money I spent on it. It's like getting a Honda Civic. It's a really cheap way to start but you end up replacing every single part in it and you end up with a car that can "smoke" a BMW, but maybe it would have been cheaper to buy the BMW to begin with.
