Any reason why eating too much dates hurts?

I got a craving for dates as i remembered i liked them so i bought 7 half kilo bags of dried dates from tesco and pigged out a bit eating 1 bag in a day, after that i limited myself to half a bag but now a few days later when i eat just a handful i get gut pains... what gives? Ive pigged out before and been fine, although that was just 1 bag a long time ago, not a constant stream over a few days like ive been eating now. Is it too much fibre? Is that what this is?

The rest of my diet is pretty healthy wholemeal bread i make myself etc with fruit, steaks, tuna, nuts, milk, eggs, with the occasional PB&J sandwich. Its definately since i ate the dates im 99% sure its them.

Possibly too much fiber.
Possibly causing dehydration as the date is absorbing water.
Possibly the expanding dates (as they absorb fluid, they get bigger) causing stomach swelling.
3rd possibility is the one I think is the main culprit.

Interested in knowing if you'll end up with the worst constipation of your life, or if you'll blow yourself off the shitter with explosive diarrhea - LOL.

Did a foreign man with an eyepatch and a vest-wearing monkey sneak into your house and pour poison on them?
