Any R/C ppl here?

I am a little new here. But I was offered a RC10T3 Team truck for a decent price with a python Jr radio control. Whats everyones opinions on this? Also I see at towerhobbies.com this truck is discontinued does that mean parts will be hard to find or can I still buy new parts if something breaks? One last thing anyone ever heard of a dynamite power pulse ESC? Any good?

This will be my first real R/C. When I say real I mean all I ever owned when I was younger was a Nikko or Tyco and we all know they aint much.

Wow. The T3 finally got discontinued eh? To answer your question; that truck was/is so popular I wouldn't worry about finding parts. Hell, you can still get parts for 20 year old Tamiyas on ebay at a reasonable price.

But yes, what's the decent price? What all is included; batteries, chargers, spare parts, etc....

thats an electric car right?? its made by AE right? they make nice cars. rwd stadium truck right? should be a good beginners car. their rc10gt was unstoppable, and insanely strong. just make sure you dont go to crazy to fast, it can get costly. speaking of which, i should prolly fix up my car, and sell it i never use it.

also, what is a good price??

the python radio, am frequency, so it should be nice, but not amazing, better out there yes, but take the truck if you want to learn, and can get it for a decent price, then upgrade, because i know electric just isnt right for a lot of ppl.

also, parts will be easily found, however AE parts are ungodly expensive compared to many other manufacturers

i think batteries on the electric cars last about 30 minutes, i am not sure. i know a tank of gas last's 15 minutes on the nitro ones.

A pack of 3000mah nimh's last me a good 15 minutes and take a little less to charge. With two, I just swap them in and out.

$135 shipped for the truck,radio,3 batteries(one Sanyo 2400mah),quick charger off a RC forum. About how fast do these things go stock with a ESC?

excellent price if things are in good shape. the rc10t3 might hit ~30mph stock altough it would be safer to say around 25. dont worry about finding parts the t3 should be easy. also parts are cheap for it. you might want to go down to your local hobby shop to see if they have parts for it. usually its a lot better buying them local rather than online.

Uh... no.

If you actually race, then the time varies. On electrics, anywhere from 4.30 -7 mins; on nitros, anywhere from 5- 10 mins.

have no hobby shop around that I know of or I wouldnt be buying online. Does it have to be T3 parts before they will fit?

I have a Durotraxx sitting here with a Torq 12. motor. I pawned it for a friend for cheap and am hopeing he doesnt return to get it. If he doesnt I am gonna fix it(just needs a cog on the rear end). BTW does anyone know anything about tuneing a nitro motor?

uh, i wasnt sure on the electric cars, that was just a number. i know for a fact, that on my NMT (hence my nick) i can last 15 minutes running about the right mixture. remember that race cars actually will last LONGER on a tank as they dont care as much about their engines so they will run leaner (higher air to fuel ratio) and im running an os .15cv-x

sniper, log onto aim. nitro engine tuning isnt the easiest, but im not sure on the engine, if its a dual needle, or single, most likely dual.

I don't know what kinda race you run, but when I race, my engine is not tuned to run either lean or rich, but at a right temperature that would enable me to finish the race without flaming out. I'm an onroad guy btw, but have friends that do off road, and have tinker with them quit a bit.

id rather have an HPI savage .25 than the tmaxx.

cr4zy, im saying that the ones who race all the time, tune their engine leaner, so as to get more power out of it. it can be debated how long a tank lasts as their are different sized tanks.

Does how long the batteries last have something to do with how the ESC is set? I mean can you set the ESC to run faster but have less runtime? Or set it to slower so you can have longer runtime?

normally after break-in you need a new one. then it all depends if your running rich, or lean. and sometimes they just go.

is there any web sites that explain how they work and stuff? Also what do you mean by rich/lean? I am a complete newbie when it comes to nitro.

just buy the nitro. You'll be glad you did. Something about the smell and sound makes it that much more fun! I've got an RC10 and that thing is tuff as nails...os .15 on it.

So what does rich/lean mean on the fuel? Also whats the biggest gear called thats attached to the rear? The gear that the motor turns? Heres a pic.

R/C

Usually referred to as the "spur" gear. The gear on the engine is the pinion. Also, rich/lean refers to the ratio of fuel to air as it enters the engine. Too rich and your engine won't run correctly. Too lean and you'll ruin the engine. The trick is to run it lean for max performance but not so lean that it ruins the engine.
