Any phone to match Iphone's touch screen responsiveness?

I just feel like upgrading from my Iphone 4 to another OS just for the heck of it. One thing I cannot absolutely do without is the same accuracy and the responsiveness of the Iphone. What other manufacturers make a similar or better screen?

Thanks

Just switched from the 4S to the HTC One X a couple weeks ago and haven't looked back. First android phone I've consistently used as my main device for more than 3 weeks at a time without switching back to my iPhone. And I've had lots of android devices including the SGSII.

Does that mean you agree the accuracy and responsiveness of the phone is similar to the Iphone or even better?

That's an issue you're better off seeing for yourself. Go to a store and play around with them, see what you think.

Nokia Lumia 900 comes close, I had the HTC One X and while it was fast for an Android phone, it just didn't have that same speed feel you get from an iPhone. Outside of the Samsung S3 there isn't a faster Android device. Maybe I'm just ultra sensitive to movement and such, but the iPhone 4S really is on another level here. I have a dual core Galaxy Note right now and it feels 2 gens back from the 4S with how clunky the UI moves. And this is rooted with the official ICS leak installed, which makes it a good deal faster.

Blame At&t and Qualcomm for that, the international Note was praised for it's fluid UI.

I wanted to really like the Note. Really I did. But I messed around with one a weekend ago that a cousin of mine had. It was just miserably slow and laggy feeling compared to my iPhone4. Every swipe, drag or tap just felt like it had a half second delay before it responded.

It has nothing to do with the type of screen used. Its how the OS handles touch movements. Only way to find out is to try yourself

But if you are sensitive then i suspect even the Galaxy S3 will feel "laggy" to you

Unfortunately At&t basically ruined their version of the Note by using an underpowered Snapdragon S3 instead of the 1.4ghz Exynos that is in the original Note.

I had been waiting for Note but as soon as I saw it was Snapdragon I bought a Galaxy S2.

If you want the pen functionality I would try and pick up an international model of the Note.

I think some of the vendors will handle that for you but it's still a pretty major inconvenience since it will take a while.

There was a rumor that Verizon would be getting a version of the Note which would hopefully be Krait powered but who knows if that will actually happen.

Err, AT&T wanted the Note to run on their LTE network. If Exynos was used, the Note would be stuck on their 3G network only. Trade offs.

Do have a few co workers that dropped iPhone 4s for Notes and are very pleased.

I've not met an Android device yet that feels as fluid as an iPhone. Windows Phone is just as fluid. Personal opinion, of course, but every time I use an Android device I cringe at the way it handles touch.

Snapdragon is not required for LTE, there are Exynos and OMAP4 powered LTE devices on Verizon.

I just want to chime in and say that as the owner of an iPhone 4, this thing is not lag free at all. Scrolling is definitely not as smooth as I've seen with the 4S, and it lags with lists and there are ever so slight hiccups when scrolling between app pages as well. This is on a newly reset phone, no more than 5 apps installed.

My S2 was stolen so i went back to my Iphone 4 for now. I have to agree with this. However keep in mind this is an 800 MHz Cortex A8 so im still fairly impressed by how its running.

Oh definitely, but there are so many comments about iOS being entirely lag free and I'm just wondering where that's coming from because that's not what I've experienced. Not with the iPhone 4, nor with the iPad 2 or the new iPad.

being an iPad 2 owner, and a TouchPad owner and a SGS2 owner, the iPad 2 smokes everything away in terms of pure speed in OS functionality.

Not sure what you mean, but if its not lag free, then neither is Android...

Its definatly not lag free but i think its 2 different types of lag. On my phone when im scrolling, sometimes the page will freeze for a split second and then immediatly be smooth again. This happens once in a while but not all the time

On Android however usually when people say lag, they are talking about how the screen is not quite following your finger when you scroll around. I never noticed this myself until a developer pointed it out on Dianne Hackborns G+ post. If you go to the settings menu on an Android phone and then slide your finger up and down at moderate speed, you will notice that the image is trailing behind your finger slightly rather than being 1:1 like on iOS. So people who are sensitive notice this all the time when scrolling on an Android device and see it as buggy and laggy.

That's fine. AT&T 3G is plenty fast enough anyway.
I don't see why anyone would want to trade an Exynos Note for an inferior SnapDragon version.
What AT&T did was a bad tradeoff.

I don't think "lag" is really the right word. Computers lag all the time and it's usually becuase of drive access. But the way iOS reacts to your touch and just the way it FEELS is so much better than any Android device I've used (but I've not had a chance to use a OneX yet).

Windows Phone is right there though.

It's largely due to differences in design philosophy. iOS will almost always feel smoother simply due to the way it has been built. A quick and dirty example is to load a large web page. Android will try to load the whole thing and scrolling will be leggy. iOS will always scroll fluidly, but it's easy to see that if you scroll fast enough you won't get the page to load at all. Android prioritizes loading the page, iOS prioritizes user interaction.

Just walked out of an AT&T store. Nothing compares. The onex was the closest. I notice both scrolling lag and click lag. It basically feels like there is touch input lag. The note was straight up atrocious. Felt worst than Samsung tab 2.0.
