Most here don't lift/exercise hard enough to even warrant drinking water during the session.

This is true of myself and most of my friends. I lift just enough to maintain some minimal strength and play the sports I like. My doc did recommend 1000mg fish oil and a multi-vitamin daily so I do take those though it has made no notable difference; However, since everyone in my family has cholesterol problems and I'm already on simvastatin, I see no reason to stop taking them. I wouldn't bother with creatine/whey/other supplements unless I really get serious about getting in awesome shape (I've actually lost 5lbs in the past 2 months anyway).

Edit for clarity: I don't lift hard enough to need water, but put me on a basketball, tennis, racketball court or soccer field and I need water. I've never been inclined to try out supplements not recommended by my doctor.

WTF you're on cholesterol meds and you must be 40?
