I can't get winamp to play back in 5.1 surround. I think I need some sort of plugin to make the adjustment? What the hackin do I have to do with it?

No, none of us use winamp.

What should I be using for playback? WMC pretty much sucks it, and Winamp is a cracked out mess.

iTunes is one of the worst media players ever crafted.

it's a shame there isn't a specific forum to discuss these gripes in, though ;)

The only problem I have is that you cannot make subplaylists. What problems do you have with iTunes?

It's buggy, bloaty, and installs malware (QT).

How bout the 5.1 Surround setting?
I've dug through all the settings I can find and I can't get this thing to pick up all the channels.
I'm running 5.08.
I googled it and found that 2.91 needed an ACR? plugin to support surround.

^ what he said.

the bloat is my big problem. winamp starts up easily four times as fast as iTunes, and because I can minimize/hide it, I don't even know that it's running except that I click on MP3's and they magically begin to play ;)

plus, there's no easy way in iTunes to queue up a bunch of songs on the fly without creating a playlist or just to play a singular song. both vital functions which EVERY mp3 player should have at the forefront.

And foobar 4x faster than winamp, I'm seriously starting to consider even winamp bloaty :p Still a good player though, but I feel foobar is a little bit better in a lot of little ways, and the one big way - kernel streaming

Okay, so I downloaded foobar.
It took 30 seconds to get it going in 5.1 surround. :D
Winamp is history.
Now to waste hours tweaking foobar :)
