iTunes is one of the worst media players ever crafted.

it's a shame there isn't a specific forum to discuss these gripes in, though ;)

The only problem I have is that you cannot make subplaylists. What problems do you have with iTunes?

It's buggy, bloaty, and installs malware (QT).

Buggy? It never crashed for me and I'm using it ALOT. Bloaty? Well guess what, it is slow if you have 6000+ songs right at your finger tip(best search function EVER). Quicktime is also better than Windows Media player. Your point was?

^ what he said.

the bloat is my big problem. winamp starts up easily four times as fast as iTunes, and because I can minimize/hide it, I don't even know that it's running except that I click on MP3's and they magically begin to play ;)

plus, there's no easy way in iTunes to queue up a bunch of songs on the fly without creating a playlist or just to play a singular song. both vital functions which EVERY mp3 player should have at the forefront.

obviously, you NEVER used iTunes before. Take a loot at the "Party Shuffle". How long does it take you in Winamp to find a song from an artist? In iTunes, it finds it while you're typing in the letters.

You can, right-click on your taskbar: Toolbars -> iTunes.

No. It's so bloated and crappyI just use windows media player, since it's already installed. Winamp was fine 5 years ago.

The same way a TV show does. Older episodes of shows are easily available too.

I'm glad you haven't experienced problems with it, but a lot of people have - check out this thread - especially managing large collections.

foobar isn't.
How long does it take you in Winamp to find a song from an artist?
About a second using the mouse, much faster than typing in what I want.

I disagree, as do many others. Whether you like it or not is your opinion and I won't tread on that, but I'll admit I'm curious why you feel people shouldn't be able to make that decision on their own & install it only if they want to, and have it reset their file associations only if they want (rather than have it do so automatically even when asked not to).

Now I gotta get all my songs into the database in foobar. I can only get them in one at a time.
Can I index my library automatically with foobar?

Playlist -> Add Directory

BTW anyone with a high quality speaker/headphone setup and a good sound card should try the kernel streaming option, if you haven't already. Details are in this thread over at head-fi. The thread is on installing a specific sound card, the Chaintech AV710, so ignore the parts detailing driver configuration and pointing foobar to output to a specific card.

Not afaik, why not use your tuner card's software? I always had winamp set to load my id3s upon loading a directory, so a 5 minute wait every time I wanted to switch from tv to music would get old fast (I hated having it read the id3s as you scrolled through your collection - the default setting). Anyway, I have a tuner card and *shrug* might check that out, why not? I don't hate winamp, actually still have it installed. No rule stating you can't use it for tv and foobar for music.

I use WinAmp. Stereo sound is supposed to be 2.1. Your sound card may be able to clone 5 speakers though and then you get sound out of all speakers.
