Any of you give blood regularly? Found out I'm O-

I gave blood on a whim for the first time a few weeks ago, the red cross sent me a little note saying thanks and that since i'm O- (news to me) there is an 'urgent' need for donations due to compatibility, so I guess I'll be there more often than I had thought. All in all a pleasant experience, any of you give blood?

i used to give blood and they loved it.

I am B-

I haven't given it lately, because my triglycerides are up the roof.
But yes they did love me when i did give blood. 🙂

theres only 2 people in this thread i could steal blood from.

The rest of you guys would kill me. 😛

A+ and Cytomegalovirus negative.
I give whole blood (I don't have the patience for double red or platelets). I actually get rejected a lot because of low iron. I probably end up donating, waiting my 8 weeks, then spending ~4 weeks as I make a few more attempts before my iron gets high enough.

I wish they would bring back soda and famous amos at the refreshments area. I don't remember when it happened, but these days they only offer crappy juices and grandma brand cookies. I don't want that shit, give me soda and famous amos!

I only started recently (given about 4 times) can't even remember what type I am. Usually get a free t-shirt when I go though. Kinda cool.

O- is very rare. i hope you guys will continue donating. there is a hugh shortage and you guys could seriously save lives

I'm O- and have been donating every 6 weeks (give or take) since 16. I'm 25 now and am really glad karma was on my side. I was in an accident last summer and needed 4 separate transfusions. They made me wait a year after the accident to donate again and on the within 8 hours of my availability on July 1st, I got the 'urgent need' call again. Went down and gave my unit and felt pretty good about it. I can assure you, it's a lot more fun watching the blood come OUT of you as opposed to IN!

If I remember correctly, my donation in September will be my 2nd whole gallon since I started going to Memorial Blood Centers 3 or 4 years ago. Maybe it was more. I don't know...

I'm B+, however, I've passed out every time I've tried to give blood and I pass out a lot after having shots, so I don't try anymore. It's not like there's a hot market for B+ blood anyway.

O+, I generally give whenever they call me, so every few months I guess. Been doing it for a little over 3 years now. Haven't tried the double-red yet; was going to a couple weeks ago but ended up getting sick and missing the blood drive day.

I'm B-, so they really push me to give. I'm currently working out some sinus/blood pressure issues, so I don't want to give until I'm clean. Normally I give whenever it's my time.
