I would hardly call the work of any Pakistani musician "historically significant." Not hating, just factual. We have "classical music" which is a world-recognized standard. Any Pakistani music in there? NOPE.

I realize that AT has a large Escaped The Third World user base...but sorry, you lose the "historically signifcant" argument.

I don't say such things lightly...

YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

QFT.
Your ignorance is just amazing.

Are you looking for the traditional-qawwali style music or the modern mixes? Here in India, there are literally HUNDREDS of his albums (every record label appears to have rights to a few dozen live recordings).

Off his International records (some purists don't like these but they work for me), 'Mustt Mustt' appeals to Western tastes best I think.

Some good songs:
'Face of Love' feat. Ed Vedder from Album: 'Dead Man Walking' Soundtrack
'Mustt Mustt' (Lost in his own work) from Album: Mustt Mustt :thumbsup:
'Nothing without You (Tere Bina)' from Album: Mustt Mustt
'Tere Bin Nahin Lagda' (New mix on the 'Bend it Like Beckham' Soundtrack)
'Allah Hu' (literally hundreds of live versions of varying length/quality)
'Mera Piya Ghar Aya'

I remember I saw a concert on TV once back in the 90s - let's just say he pulled a Metallica S&M type thing - qawwali with Modern Hard Rock (Pakistani Artists). That was pretty awesome but it never made it to CD/DVD.

Mustt Mustt is still my fave, perhaps because it was the first of him I heard. A bit western, but hey, I'll use it as a gateway to the more traditional.

hahaha. just read through the thread and i will bump for great posts by MichaelD demonstrating the "America is the center of the world" mentality that is all too pervasive here.
