Or download the easily available OTA and put it on there yourself. There's literally nothing to complain about.

OTA URL's are known. Factory images have been available since Monday. If you want it now, you can get it now. Otherwise, just wait.

It would be nicer if there were better options (basically something for the 'everyman'), but as it currently stands, you have the ability to update the phone yourself. So stop whining.

My phone still did not sure any option for upgrades... :( any suggestions?

You can always get the factory image and flash it, personally I'd rather go that route rather than the OTA. There are probably a lot of guides out there to do it, and it's not that bad at all if you're familiar with ADB and fastboot.

If it's not too much trouble can someone posts some links please? Not sure which site I should use? At least a site name would be helpful. I am no expert in the process, but no novice either. Have rooted moded few phones and tablets, got CM on them. But always blindly followed the steps on some website, or YouTube. Such links would be really appreciated. If it's against this sites policy then please PM.

Got the OTA on my Nexus 5. Eh... I miss the energetic Android from 2012-2013. These new releases aren't exciting or worthwhile.

There are a bunch of OTA's here http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/1...gs-android-6-0-marshmallow-nexus-ota-roundup/

There's also links to guides and the factory images in that article.

I went to this link before based on some previous conversations, but the Nexus 6 section does not have any 6.0 links, they all say "Coming soon", am I missing something?

I think the massive improvement in battery life is about as exciting as I could hope for. The rest is just gravy.

The ota for the nexus 6 must not have started rolling out yet, usually someone captures the link pretty quickly after its released. The only way right now to upgrade to marshmallow is to flash the factory image.

https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en

pardon my ignorance, but what are the potential issues with factory image? I did not buy mine through carrier I bought it from Amazon, same model that's sold in play store. Wouldn't factory image be the most fitting one? or is it something like a beta version?

It's not beta, it is the actual release version. I can't think of any potential issue aside from not following the directions. There is only one image for Android M (Nexus 6) so you can't grab the wrong one.

What carrier are you with?

When Survivor is over I will post a link to the directions if you like.

** Edit **

Follow these instructions. Use method 2. I have never had the "flash-all" batch file (method 1) work correctly for some reason. You can try that first, it won't brick your phone or anything. If you get a failure message then proceed to method 2 which has always worked for me.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008

In a nutshell, do the following:

(1) Get adb and fastboot installed and tested.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/noob-read-adb-fastboot-how-help-t3006500
(2) Download the Nexus 6 factory image from Google
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en
(3) Follow method 2 in the first link.

Make sure you backup anything on your phone you want to keep. If you follow the directions to the letter everything will be wiped clean.

I'm with T-mobile but already have Fi invite waiting, does that make any difference?

I can't see why. All Nexus 6 phones are using the same image with 6.0 from what I can see. You aren't stuck on this image in any case, you can always flash back if you so choose.

Just to add something to my earlier post, step 2 should be unlocking your bootloader which is mentioned in the first link.

Or Nexus Root Toolkit: http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/

You may need to click Full Driver Installation Guide - Automatic + Manual to install the Drivers first.

Then click and follow the directions:

1. Unlock Bootloader. (Will format device.)

2. Click on Flash Stock + Unroot and flash the latest Android 6 (select the second option below other/browse and then select: Android 6.0). It will automatically download and install the Factory image. (You may need to tick Force Flash Mode)

3. (If other than Nexus 6) then do OEM lock. Unless you want to keep the device unlocked for future updates without wipes but this can be dangerous if your Phone gets stolen.

Done.

You can also Root and such too if you want. It's a really great Tool. Also has some snazzy backup tools as well.

nope, there is only one version of 6.0 that works on any carrier. Follow what Dave posted if you want to flash the factory image, that is the correct method. I'm assuming that you have not unlocked your bootloader previously, so you WILL erase all of your data if you flash. If you want to keep your data you will need to wait until the OTA is available.

I assume Desi you probably don't have your bootloader unlocked. In order to flash the factory image, you will have to unlock it, which will wipe your phone.

Flashing the OTA can be done with a locked bootloader and doesn't wipe the phone.

Only 2 differences I see.

You apparently have not used the phone much or read about the changes then.

So i looked up "what's new" and it seems on nexus 6 some of the M features were already introduced with the last 5.1 build which came out a few weeks back, like all apps were now on a scroll rather than screens, how the options are arranged on the top, which supports on double pull down... etc. Did any of you actually have a Nexus 6 with all the 5.1 updates? sweenish, specially with your arrogant and counter productive attitude, I am guessing not... Why don't you go to OT or PnN and troll there

I was running 5.1.1 before I flashed the 6.0 update. From a look and feel standpoint you are mostly correct, there isn't a whole lot in this update that is going to make you really take notice. Most of those interface changes happened with LP and the Material Design changes. This update seems to be more about "under the hood" improvements, and that was sorely needed.

This update is still pretty new to all of us, but some immediately noticeable things to me are:

- improved battery performance
- improved app permissions system
- much better memory usage (overall system and per app) reporting
- Now on tap

There are some hardware support changes as well such as fingerprint scanning and USB-c support but obviously you need a new phone to really see those additions.

I am happy to see Google trying to smooth out the operating system rather than adding tons of new animations or apps. That is what LP was for. I think there is plenty to be happy about, but if you were hoping for lots of flashy new interface changes then yes, you will be disappointed.

Why don't you look into Project Doze, the revamped Do Not Disturb mode, as-needed permission model, improved memory and battery information, System UI Tuner, revamped volume controls, automatic Google Drive backups of app data, GOOGLE NOW ON TAP, etc, and then think on it?

Essentially, NO M FEATURES were in 5.1, because then they wouldn't be M features, would they?

Not sure what you expected, trying to call me out. And in doing so, demonstrating even more ignorance. I mean, look at your posts. "Guys, when is 6.0 coming out? I can't read basic news", "I still don't have it, what do I do?", "What's an OTA?", "I still don't have it, wah. What do I do?", "It looks the same, I don't think any of you guys know what you're talking about."

It took you three pages to finally just do it yourself. I'll give you kudos for that, regardless.

And just so we're clear, I do own a Nexus 5, sure it's not a 6, but as far software goes I'm close enough. I'm well aware of what was rolled to the Google app (NOT 5.1.1) leading up to Marshmallow's release. So thanks for your assumption. It doesn't help you out at all, since it was baseless and also dead wrong.
