Did RIM improve the boot time of their device in bb10 ?
BB's are atrocious whenever you pull the battery.

That picce of info is not known. Not like my Droid 3 (Motorolla) is a gem. 3 minute boots. Possibly 4 minutes. If I had the latest hardware though, my opinion of Android regarding reboots would probably be different.

BB10 is based on QNX (30 year old embedded operating system that is everywhere and probably controlling your car's engine). It is lean and fast. It will be much better than the legacy OS.

Your shilling is hilarious.

Chrome is the *worst* Android phone browser. Dolphin, Boat, et al. don't require ICS.

I have 3 browsers. Stoc, Dolphin and Firefox. I am not pleased at all. Not sure what boat is. I'll give it a go. Just called Boat?

I'm looking forward to the Motorola X. Rumor has it that Google will introduce it at I/O in May with Key Lime Pie.
I didn't get the Nexus 4. This will be probably the one to get for me.

Optimus G Pro is obviously in the work.

Edit: Sorry I forgot your topic states "this quarter." According to the linked article it's not clear when Optimus G Pro will be released in the states.

Does the Moto X have hardware encryption?

I think moto could really do well if they chill out about the locking everything down approach.

It just sits even worse now that Google owns them.

Loosen up the software locks, release stock or near stock android, make the hardware a little less fussy looking and they could do well.

Boot times are supposed to be about 40 seconds. Not sure if this is a debug build of the OS though. So worse case, 40 seconds.

Why would you shut your phone down?

It's a crapshoot if any given browser will render a web page.

Really? I haven't had a problem where a page won't render at all in... well I can't remember.

Mindd you my browsing is fairly prosaic.

Got any examples? Nowhere to dodgy though eh? :D

Ahh that makes sense now... using a droid 3... I had one and it was nothing special at all. Even the droid razr is far and away better than the droid 3.

I didn't watch the entire bb10 video... too long, but it looks competitive with a high end android phone, appears to easily best ios in terms of features like multitasking... but to be WAY better than android which is mature and powerful, especially jellybean or a touchwiz rom seems like a stretch.

Basing your opinion of android on using a droid 3 is definitely missing out as it is way behind current phones.

on older BBs sometimes the only way to fix things that were bugging out was to pull the battery and reboot it. my friend had one that would take 15 minutes to boot when you did that

Reminds me of the Palm Pre, was never sure if it was still booting or stuck. Took a good while for it to boot.
