It's my observation that due to a shift in what kinds of games are popular, Valve has put Half Life and similar types of games on the back burner and is more focused on stuff that sells far better and take considerably less time to develop: multiplayer focused games such as Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress.
It took valve 18 months to release ep1 and about 16 months to release ep2. It's been 2 years and 4 months since then, and valve still hasn't come up with anything, not even a hint of what's to come. Personally, I'm very very frustrated...

Now that L4D2 is out, what exactly is Valve working on? The Valve wiki only lists Hl2:E3 and Portal 2 and I doubt their putting a lot of resources into Portal 2.

Then you've been playing the wrong games. MP has it's place, but that shit is what gets boring, running around and shooting people in the same ways, over and over again.
