Any liberals considering voting for Trump or a Repub hawk if one is the candidate?

Ah heck I forgot there is a reasonable reason for a lib to vote for Trump. Not a crackpot reason like mine. A Trump win would guarantee months and years of hilarity to see in these forums, the rest of the net, on tv and even where you work. All the goofy things he will say providing comic relief.

Sorry if that was already mentioned as a decent reason for a lib. I was a little slow with that one. It's not my reason although it would fun to observe. I'm still sticking with my war reason of the OP.

Shouldn't the topic question be:

Any sane people considering voting for Trump or a Repub hawk if one is the candidate?

If you want a Repub hawk then Ted Cruz is the hawkiest hawk that is hawking!
.@tedcruz promises to bomb ISIS into oblivion. “I don’t know if sand can glow in the dark, but we’re going to find out,” he says. #RTS15

I'm sure I'm considered a big flaming liberal by most and TBH I'd vote for Trump because I think he's the least likely R candidate to create a big fucking mess.

He's the least indebted to the R establishment that intentionally engineers fuckups.

He's not ideologically committed to the stupid things he says.

Most of his stupid policies are blatantly stupid enough that pushing back on them would at least gridlock them.

Most of his stupid policies are probably due to the base he's courting while in candidate mode.

In contrast to above, his economic policies are actually the best of that bunch (which is admittedly not saying much but still), which are much harder to push back on because so many people don't recognize stupid economic policy but at the same time they are the most important policies for the most people.

His ego might actually push him towards wanting to be a good leader.

No question.

I have a sort of theory about public opinion among the electorate.

People think -- somehow -- because there is a democratic election, the majority is always right, and the election outcome is always prudent.

The only certitude we have about democratic government is this: it assures legitimacy to authority over a temporary span. Thus, the old GOP platitude: "If you didn't vote, you have no reason to complain."

If you want a certain and perfect outcome, it requires any number of things:

Perfect information -- available and obtainable by the electorate.

Perfect logic, with an almost mathematical precision among the electorate.

A common vision of the future. There is no such thing "in common."

A common vision would also rise to a consensus of which problems to address have priority, and which ones don't. We don't even agree as to what the problems are!

People vote from the heart, from the balls -- but never exclusively from the mind. It's always a combination of the three. That defines the "personality contest" aspect of campaigns.

But we don't have democratic elections. It's right there in the constitution.

We all want it unconsciously because we hate ourselves and can't stand our lives. You don't remember how badly you were hurt and how angry you are about it.
?

I absolutely, definitely don't want a world war to start.
I think most other people don't as well.

Of course not, not consciously, but look around, you see people with very low self esteem laying in the gutter all over town. Imagine that what they have bad, you have as a mild case. We all feel like the worst in the world but that is a feeling we have that is neither accurate or conceivably logically possible, but if you were to become conscious of that feeling you would feel it as if it were maximally true. The expression of the feeling, how badly it fucks up our lives, varies from person to person, and from life experience to life experience. It's what breaks soldiers on the battle field. They get in touch with what they feel because the horror they see matches their experience of what happened to them in childhood. Give a successful, say psychotherapist, enough psychotherapy and enough cause to force him to feel, and he will also discover the truth of what I say.

I do OK in life, not a basket case, just a regular nobody, but I know that's how I feel because I have felt it. And was it ever a surprise, although I was also told it was true of me and I didn't believe it, not really. Still can't believe it. You only really know it when you're feeling it. I probably spent an hour or so sobbing, I had no idea I felt so bad, I had no idea, no idea at all.

Anyway, I understand your doubt, trust me.

PS: People can feel all sorts of things that are not true but what we feel is our truth because it is what we feel.

Liberals are just conservatives who can tolerate the fear of their daily lives. Increase the reasons to fear, decrease the number of liberals.

Still not following you there.

Having low self esteem =/= wanting to see the world burn.

@Moonbeam Take those Meds. I know it feels good now but after you get depressed there may be very little you can do without hospitalization.

And no I am not a self loathing liberal but a life long member of the Hope and Help Club.

It isn't just low self esteem. It is a deep hatred for oneself. Let me ask you this: have you ever thought back to some moment in your life where you genuinely think you fucked something up? For example, maybe you said something or did something that was really embarrassing in front of some people you really liked/respected. Do you ever think back to that moment and really hate that you did that thing and really wish you could take it back? How do you feel when you think about those moments?

I'm voting for trump. I don't see it as a choice. Every other choice, dem or repub, seem to be in a race to drive the USA into the gutter.

I'm 45, I've got lots of those moments!

I don't want to start a war over any of them.

Is it just his stance on immigration that draws you?
Do you not worry about his lack of policy in other areas?

Of course not, at least not consciously. We're talking subconscious here. Most of us are able to keep it under control so we don't turn into Crazy-Eyes during those moments.
