I really like the Remington 760, though I believe the modern version has been re-catalogued as the 7600. Removable box magazine, pump rather than bolt action. I prefer it for Alaska, as you're much more likely to run into something that wants to eat you while you're out hunting than you are in some other states.

I have the 7600 in .270. This was my first and only deer hunting rifle, never had a reason to get anything else.
