Not to mention there are S754 PCIE motherboards so you don't even have to update your CPU/RAM if you don't want to.

It is kinda amazing isn't it? It has been so long since PCI was the standard, but I suppose systems like the Dell Hot deals that came with no AGP slot create a market for those who eventually want more graphics power than their Intc IGP provides.

That's why ATI will first offer an X1800 in AGP followed by nVidia (to keep pace). ATI's current financial quarter is DOOM3'ed. They'll do whatever it takes to make revenue/profits to include AGP cards with high end GPUs. Just my guess, but expect an anouncement by March 06 (possibly Feb).

Since MBM5 is no longer supported, when I move to PCI-e I will no longer have the use of my LIS2 Premium VFD. That is the main reason why I have not upgraded to PCI-e. Old habits die hard, and so will AGP.

Side note: The dual video cards you mention is the single largest advance for the high end gamer in many years as it allows you to have up to 90% more performance than the current highest single card performance. IMO this alone justifies making a bonfire with all the remaining AGP boards on the planet.

Well, it's not a simple as upgrading the motherboard and just plugging everything back in. My CPU socket is already a bit outdated, and there's no point to upgrading the motherboard to PCI-e and still use the older socket. That means I need a new CPU as well. And at doing that, I might as well add better RAM and components.

If indeed a person has to switch to a PCI-E AMD board from AGP, he is very likely going to buy a nForce4 mobo since there aren't any major direct competitor to it...
that seems like a good reason for Nvidia to not release any new AGP video cards.
