Remove Bioshock and Fable, the rest of the list is good.

WRONG. Fable was very good. You probably didn't even bother to go through half of the game and judged it from the 1st 10 min. Bioshock is probably not one of the best games out there, but I still beat it, and I really enjoyed it all the way to the end.

My only problems with Bioshock are the "plastic" looking gfx, heavily recycled enemy models and somewhat confusing ending. Aside from that, the game was a blast.

Hated Dungeon Siege. I felt like it was nothing but missed potential. The gfx were nice, but the story sucked, and it felt like the game had no soul. It just felt.. empty, compared to games like Planescape Torment or Icewind Dale.

I also didn't like KOTOR because the gfx were horrible IMO. I don't really have a problem with old games, but I just couldn't take the gfx.

I highly recommend The Witcher. Best RPG in last 10 years IMHO.

You might also try the 1st SACRED. Keep in mind that Sacred2 is a complete failure though...
Temple of elemental Evil was awesome, but I never finished it. 🙁 Titan Quest is a lot of fun over Hamachi LAN.
I never tried Demon Stone and Fate, but I'm planning to do that.

Didn't see anyone recommend NOX. That was a great game! Beat it all the way to the end.

Is Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Baulder's gate like Neverwinter Nights? I played the second Neverwinter nights and couldn't get into it, didn't like the complication of it.

baldur's gate and icewind dale are party based, unlike NWN1 (nwn2 is much better than nwn1)

in order, i'd go BG2 >>>>>>>>> NWN2 >>> IWD

BG and IWD both use the infinity engine, which i like a lot, but IWD has a fully customized party, so all of the the party dialogue is text-based, which is pretty boring. BG has scripted party members, who are a LOT more fun 🙂

then what you're looking for are ARPG's(action rpg) and not RPG's, things like Sacred, Diablo, Titans Quest, Fate, etc. Games where you mindlessly kill tons of bad guys with barely enough customization to be called an RPG

nope, definitely not the only one. I hate that game. Sure, it was pretty, but boring as hell linear gameplay felt like back to NES rpgs.

PASS.

I just finished it last night...the first 1/3rd of the game was pretty bad but it did pick up....I'd say 8/10 or so- very good but not memorable, and did not really stand out to me in any way.

Bioshock is a blast although its very short and lots of the sidequests are meh.

It's very similar to Diablo II in its game-play style, view angle, experience system, skills system, and more, but is of course also unique in many other areas. It's such an underrated game (sadly I hadn't known much about that game until after Iron Lore, the developers, closed their doors).

It emulates D2 in so many ways yet after awhile you realize it just can't keep you hooked like D2 does. =/ That's how my experiences with TQ have been.

It cant keep you hooked because Diablo 2 already wore everyone out.
Its a superior game in every way but since we're all so tired of it now, Titan Quest just didnt feel that special.

Which is ironic (almost) because when Diablo 3 comes out everyone will shit themselves and say its the best game ever.

If you like Diablo style games try Guild Wars. It's considered by some to be a Mmorg, but it's really more like Diablo then Wow and there are no monthly fees.

Don't remove them and the list is good.

Perhaps he might like Hellgate: London. Online play is no longer available, but the SP still works, and it's cheap.

Seriously? That game revolved around its multiplayer which was plagued with problems. I think there's much better options out there.

TQ is not superior to D2 in every way. Diablo 2 is vastly superior despite being much older. The main advantage TQ has going for it is the higher resolution and better graphics. I've put more hours into diablo 2 after beating TQ than I have into TQ altogether. It's not even a close match, and I mean D2 is far from perfect and I'm bored of it after likely thousands of hours of play, but your comment that TQ is better was just so dead wrong that I had to comment.

Edit: Oh, and yes, Diablo 3 will be the best game ever. I'll probably shit myself during the next class update, long before the games release.

I also really enjoyed fable, it was a fun play through.

Favorite RPG's of all time in order

1) KOTOR 1
2) Mass Effect
3) KOTOR 2
4) Fable

I highly recommend all of those as many others have said.

You would lose a case if you were a lawyer.
You're entire basis........

You know what? Forget it. If I engage is this debate I'll probably lose IQ points. I dont even need to bother. The words you used only helped to support my case, I dont even need to make an argument right now.

Seems more like most of the games are BETTER than Bethesda games, asking "any good RPGs for the PC" is poor choice of words...

If you are looking for a JRPG, I just found Eternal Eden yesterday and ended up playing it all day. It is old school JRPG goodness that is not buggy and is very fun to play. http://www.blossomsoft.com

You can download the trial (which lasts a good 3 hours), and buy if you want for $20. This is the type of game I have been waiting for on the PC and can't wait for the next few games. There is one guy doing the majority of the programming, so it's for an indie-type of developer to boot.

Yea forget it indeed. If someone came up to you and argued that captain black cigars are better than cohibas, or that LCDs have better black levels than plasma, would you argue at length that they are wrong? Judging from the piety of your post, I highly doubt it. There's no need to argue that which is already known fact, and I believe that most of the gaming society realizes and believes that Diablo 2 is on a completely different level of quality than Titan Quest. I simply noted the error, corrected it, but didn't bother trying to argue it.

If someone tries to argue the other side, I will enjoy meeting their arguments with common sense and the truth - D2 is far superior to TQ, as I mentioned above. Btw, I'm not a lawyer, but I am a gamer, and I know when I'm right and when one game is much better than another similar game it tends to be pretty obvious.

I hope I didn't kill any of your brain cells, sir. Surely you need the ones you have left.

I had to chime in after this. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for in an RPG, but I'm the kind of player who likes Bethesda products.

I'll never say that Diablo 2 is a bad game. I only finished the first chapter, beyond which I stopped playing. (Felt it to be a mindless killing exercise) But, in interests of full disclosure, I started playing it late, sometime after 2004 I think. And by then, I was spoiled by the graphics of other titles.

Of note, to you guys, I'm reading the review of Fable on IGN right now, and it seems interesting. Is the story any good in that game?

HHmmm... in addition to that, perhaps I should mention that I found Deus Ex an entertaining play? (forget the sequel, it doesn't hold a candle to the original.)
