Sinister and The Woman in Black are two in the last couple/few years that actually creeped me out.

edit:
I also liked the Rob Zombie Halloween remakes, The Omen (remake), Trick 'r Treat, etc...truly scary movies are damn few and far between though.

if you watch cabin in the woods, don't go into it with any horror expectations. i did and the movie was awful because of that. it's an awful movie regardless, but it's FAR from scary. it's basically a satire of the horror genre.

I liked The Evil Dead remake that came out this year.

If you really want a classic, American Werewolf in London from 1981.

Also:

Ginger Snaps
Ginger Snaps 2

Let The Right One In

this is the only good one that I can think of.

The majority of films today that are classified as "horror" are basically just gore and cheap shock shclock that only appeals to stupid people (think: Saw, Hostel, etc). None of it is horror.

Hell Baby

(Well, ok, maybe it's not a classic or anything, but it's fun. Plus there's some great full-frontal eye candy.)

Swedish original is Let The Right One In, then there was an excellent US remake titled Let Me In.

Oh I see. I understand Swedish anyways, but is the remake the same? I know that's a stupid question lol, but some remakes are totally different. Just saying 🙂 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1228987/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
if not, then I guess I download it 🙂

Plus, Chloe Moretz is a good teen actor. But I doubt shes better than Lina Leandersson. Her acting was superb! 😛
