That's pretty cool
I used to fish a lot when I was younger. Mostly lake fishing -- silvers, perch, trout, bass, bluegills.
A few years ago I moved to the coast, and my grandfather handed me down his boat. I'm trying to learn how to fish the Puget Sound, but I haven't really gone out much.
Check out the other link I posted in my edit
I swear you guys would love the fishing here
Imagine a cooler of cold local and Mexican beers, snacking on fresh lobster and conch ceviche while catching a big asss marlin if you lucky
Yes, and I am incredibly fortunate that such a significant quantity of salmon is either caught locally, or imported through our ports -- its always fresh and always plentiful. I enjoy it both raw, and cooked (particularly on a cedar or alder wood plank).I have a weakness for pink salmon. Do you like that fish as well?
My girlfriend lives on an Island (Caye) off the coast called Ambergris Caye.
I go there on a regular basis (15 minute plane ride away) and do some reef and deep sea fishing from time to time.
This will give you an idea what its like.....

Apparently it is. If I was targeting crappie and only had a handful of them after an hour or two, I'd head back to shore with the boat. I can't figure out the allure of ice fishing - seems the action is incredibly slow compared to fishing open water (with knowledge of structure, baits, etc.)
thought that too
Fly fishing streams for trout the size of my hand seems like the most fun of all the forms of fishing because it's difficult. There's something elegant about it, tying flies by hand and "presenting" them to the fish in a manner that fools them.
I was offered a chance to go ice fishing with someone I know, so I asked him about it since I had never been ice fishing (I HATE the cold), so he tells me about all his gear to drill holes, tents, Coleman heaters, and high resolution sonar, etc. I said it sounds like it's harder to just go to the grocery and buy them, and he says "It is!" the whole time with a big shit-eating grin on his puss.
To tell you the truth, I never enjoyed fishing all that much, though pan fish are the best tasting fish there are imo.

i used to fish of the rocks at the beach when i was a kid. I used to catch mostly crappy mackerel. My cool catches were a huge spider crab, octopus, and little shark
Bass fisherman here in the DFW area. I used to live in the Twin Cities and as much as I hated losing an $8 frog lure to a northern, I kind of miss pulling them in. I haven't been out this year yet but will soon. Mostly I just shore fish and hit the smaller lakes around the metro area. I just catch and release. Hit me up if anybody is in the DFW area and want to go bass fishing. I'm not expert, but I'm willing to learn.
