Hey, I resemble that remark!

OP, have you tried ECT?

No I haven't and I dont plan to I've never seen any research Ito it that makes it appear positive except in instances of very severe personality defects that brain damage tends to aid

I quit drinking a few years ago. I just realised one day I was drinking too much on a regular basis out of habit so I stopped buying / storing alcohol. These days I drink socially maybe a couple of glasses a couple of times a month, if even that - if it looks like me not drinking won't appear antisocial then I'll just stick to the water / sodas. And by now most of my friends have got used to me not drinking so I find I drink less and less when out as time goes on.

I still keep champagnes and a few selected wines in my cellar but for semi-investment / entertaining than drinking - I haven't opened a bottle in my house when not entertaining since, well, I stopped.

Mind you, I've never been a fucking pussy so can't relate to your situation. Good luck.

Hey People,

I need to stop drinking, I drink too much, I drink almost every day, it's not good for me, I use it to self medicate. So I'm stopping, or at least I'm trying to stop. I was teetotal until I was 19 so I know I have the capacity to do it again.

Looking for advice or just personal experiences on giving up.
All kids are teetotalers, so basically you didn't start until you were 19. Stopping can be difficult, since you'll find it impacts what you do, especially if like most english people in your age group you do nothing in your life of note whatsoever other than getting absolutely fvck-face-fall-down drunk because there's nothing else to do in that God forsaken rainy island. It's not your fault; you're simply reacting as one must to the circumstances of living there.

That said, yes I stopped drinking. I was never a drunk. I just decided one day to take a break from it and a few weeks later decided maybe I should extend this break, and now some years later I don't ever see myself drinking again. Healthier, never hungover, it's a win. But many people will never understand this and why you do it. Or they'll assume that you stopped because you were an alcoholic.

You will probably stop going out partying with friends, though, at least to bars because the truth is going to a bar and not drinking isn't fun. Yes, because you need to drink to have fun--if you're in a bar. That's the point of them.

Well I didn't read the serious part of your response because you started it with retarded trolling. Stfu

My entire response was serious, but you did read the entire thing, otherwise you wouldn't have even thought there was a serious part after the trolling.

Please don't lie to me again. We both know you read it.

I read "blah blah nothing to do on your rainy island, blah blah everyone in england gets drunk" that was enough for me.

Yes, that was the serious part. And true; at least one study has shown that people in England are among the most high alcohol consuming of the first world (more than the US). I believe it's due to living on that rainy island. And until you are able to be honest about why you drink, you'll never be able to stop. I'm trying to help.

Ok, well you talking down to me saying that there is nothing to do in my country, implying that my country is someway worse than yours... Believe it or not does not help.

The rain doesn't affect why I drink, nor does the amount of things to do, nor does my country. You added those irrelevant statements to troll, stop it

Not irrelevant. My point is, damn near everyone in England drinks and many are drunks, so you're going to have to stop drinking in an environment that will be quite hostile to this.

I mean holy fvck sticks batman, look at some of these numbers. You must realize that the effort to stop drinking will be going hugely against the tide of compatriots.

Yep we are quite a drinking nation, particularly at my age but it has nothing to do with the rain and it has nothing to with being on an island and it has nothing to do with how much stuff there is to do here all of that was you trolling

So tell me why the primary hobby of people your age is getting knock-over-alcohol-poisoning drunk on a regular basis if not for the reasons I've stated?

After you explain why young Americans like eating burgers and watching American football.

quid pro quo and I asked first. I also already gave you a reason. Methinks you don't have a better explanation than the fact it rains 400 days/year and there's nothing to do there.

Ok you're officially a delusional troll now. I can't be fucked to continue a conversation with a moron. I'll leave you with this: we drink because it's fun, we even drink in London, one of the most densely populated cities in the world, where you can do anything or nothing, there's by far enough to do in London and yet we choose to drink. You are a moron. Goodbye

You're very angry. I agree with alkemyst, you need a drink. Lighten up, gov!

And to answer your question about burgers, they are VERY GOOD. It's worth being a fat ass for how damned awesome a burger is and that's a fact. I can't speak to the American football as I'm not a fan of it.

what a waste of a fucking thread. stop drinking. as other have said, you want us to pat you on your shoulder? you've been around here long enough, what kind of response did you really expect from us?
