For the past few weeks I've been feeling blah. Tired, abdominal pain, cramping. So I go see my doctor and he has referred me to see a gastrologist which I have to wait two freakin weeks to see. He suggested that I might have crohns and having done some research im starting to agree. Problem is I still have another week to wait and im having constant pain in my lower right side by my intestines and my leg is Alittle numb. Thought maybe I did something to it but it just started hurting yesterday after just laying in bed. Anyone have any ideas? Alittle freaked out by the whole situation

IF this is getting worse after seeing your doctor, call him and tell him to see him again and/or call that specialist to see if you can get moved up or put down in case somebody cancels.

I'm not a doctor, but you could try an elimination diet. It's probably what the doctor will tell you to do anyway. Normally, with something like Crohns, you eliminate grains and dairy.

Typically just gluten (which is in anything wheat based, not just pure grains). Dairy is frequently ok.

As others have said, don't ask the internet. Ask your doctor.

Gluten intolerance is Celiac disease, not Crohn's disease.

Obviously I have very little information to go on. However, lower right quadrant is where your appendix is. This is usually accompanied by fever, complete loss of appetite, and rebound tenderness (you can sort of test this at home: stand up on your tippy toes then rapidly drop down to your heels. If that makes you jump with pain, be concerned).

If you have these things, go to the ER now. Otherwise, I would call back your doctor's office and be under their guidance.

If it's bad enough, make a trip to the ER.

I'm not in any severe pain or i would go in a heartbeat. Just feel tired and have slight .. well not slight. Just have discomfort in the right side. If it does get any worse i plan on going to the ER

The two conditions are related. Generally, you just need to avoid wheat, barley, and rye. However, many Celiacs report being sensitive to supposedly gluten-free grains such as rice, hence, the recommendation to eliminate all grains and then slowly add them back in. Again, I repeat that I'm not a doctor, though. However, your condition sounds like it may be some type of autoimmune disorder, and since there's absolutely no harm in eliminating grains and dairy for a short period of time, you might as well try.

But yes, you should consult your doctor as well.

I have Crohn's Disease. I have had it since I was 13 (now 38). I had an operation when I was 15 in order to prevent my death (yes it was that bad). Since that time, I have lived with it, and does not affect my life that much. Just have to deal with the occasional flare ups and avoid certain foods, and other than that I live a normal life. Luckily it has not come back nearly as bad as it was before my operation.

Prior to the operation, I would be doubled over in pain for hours at a time. My weight was down to 55lbs (as a 13 year old), and my blood iron count was 0. I could not eat anything without it hurting and I was tired all the time. I was originally diagnosed with Leukemia before they found out it was Crohns. Luckily I live 10 minutes from Boston Childrens Hospital, as I spent the next 2 years visiting frequently.
