I some day want to do a half marathon. But I was wondering there are any good desitnation runs that are 10K or half marathons.

For example, I know Disney World in Florida does a handful of 5Ks throguh the magic kingdom.

I was wondering if there is anything like this where I could go on vacation with the family and do a long run.

Too bad the half is sold out...you could do the Goofy Challenge.

10K: BolderBoulder, PeachTree, Beach to Beacon are the ones that are popular & pretty

Half: hate to say it but the RnR series has a few in big cities. If you book early enough or during a discount time, registration is reasonable.

Well, the idea of a half marathon in Florida wasn't a dream idea. humid and 80 degrees ...... ehhhhhhh.

How about Vermont in December ;-)

The Flying Pig in Cincinnati is a pretty good time. Lots of entertainment along the course and a ton of support from the local communities along the way. I haven't done the longer races there but my wife has and said it was pretty fun. There is plenty to do with the family in Cincy as well (King's Island, Newport Aquarium, Reds game, zoo, etc.).

It isn't until next Spring though, so that's quite a ways off.

That's the marathon I'm running in January...

Since the half is sold out, run the full and I'll see you there!

Me too! Good luck! Which corral do you think you'll be in?

To the OP, Florida isn't always hot in January. It's been cold (for Florida) that time of year. One of the benefits of the Disney World Marathon course is that it's pancake flat. But still, if Florida is too hot for you, there's hundreds of marathons and halfs all over the U.S., and hundreds more all over the world. If you're looking for a destination race, just decide where you'd like to go, and there'd probably a half or full there for you to run.

Alaska, here I come baby!

Actually, maybe I'll do one in Canada some day.

Honestly, I just started training 2 weeks ago. I'm dealing with back pain and trying to get my muscles back to where they need to be for running. (It's been about 5 years since I've run and that was just a 5k) I'll be trying to complete a half marathon some time before Oct 6....I'll let you know when I get there.
