EXCELLENT analogy... absolutely true.

certain wheat ales need either a lemon wedge or an orange slice in order to effectively enjoy it. it really depends on which one you get... for example, schlaffly's wheat or boulevard wheat takes a lemon while blue moon takes an orange. if you're out of orange slices, you can kinda get by with a lemon wedge, but it's not nearly as good.

talk about some serious insecurity issues...

only real guys know that blue moon is drunk with a citrus slice. if they make fun of you, they're idiots who probably drink budweiser or something else that sucks ass.

just like vi_edit said, blue moon without a slice of orange is like a cheeseburger without condiments. would your friends make fun of you for putting ketchup or mustard on your burger?

I've never heard of the stuff before. Drinking Blue Moon doesn't make me gay or anything does it? I mean, does it have a rep like Zima or Apple Pucker or anything?

No, it's awesome.

You should also try Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat. From the bottle it is better than Blue Moon. Blue Moon is better from the tap though.

I agree with this. Leinenkugal is good from a bottle, but it doesnt even hold a candle when it comes to the tap.

i find leinenkugal a little over the top with it's beers... for example, it's raspberry microbrew? there's nothing microbrewed about it... it might as well be beer with raspberry flavoring. their wheat ale is too sweet...

to me, a wheat ale should have a tiny bit of bitterness but a slightly sweet wheaty aftertaste... and a raspberry microbrew should taste something like newcastle until the raspberry kicks in on the aftertaste. you shouldn't taste the HINT of raspberry (not a frigging raspberry 12 gauge to the tastebuds) until a second or so after you've swallowed the beer.

Try hoegaarden sometime. Its a pretty bomb ass beer as well.

I bought a case of hoegaarden once and it almost made me quit drinking.

tell me about it... the first hoegaarden i had wasn't THAT bad, but it definitely wasn't good. then i had another and i was like "ok, fuck this... give me a miller lite."

Get over yourself, conceited prick. I can't even drink beer and I find you insulting.

I'm sorry, in the future I'll pretend that watery, terrible beer is delicious.

Beer is beer
, some of it sucks and some of it is good. If you don't like Coors Light, Bud Light, or any of the others then so be it. FWIW I drink Coors light all the time and I am neither a teenager nor a factory worker.... so yeah. Cheap beers have their place, just like expensive beers.

reasons not to listen to a thing this guy says when it comes to beer.

Next time order it with a shot of OJ (seriously) instead of the orange slice. Some bartender served my buddy and all the beer drinkers I know now swear by it (I prefer my vodka ;))

Bill

shot of oj is too much. way, way too much.

vi_edit hit on it, but all wheat beers take lemon and oranges. If they don't put that in it, they dont know what they are doing :(

I have never had a piece of fruit put into my weissbier any bar in the various parts of Germany that I've been in.

i haven't seen toilet paper used in various countries i've been to... it doesn't mean it's not a more comfortable way to clean your ass after taking a dump.

yeah, but it's easier to respond to posts as i'm reading them through the thread. i kinda just figured others would post too while i was responding to posts, which would stagger my posts though the thread pages.

Welcome to the world of Belgian style beers. There a lot of them, most better than Blue Moon. Many imports and some good domestics as well.

Might have to try that. Not a huge fan of the blue moon by itself.

Fat Tire, Blue Moon, and Sierra Nevada are all very popular in the Chicago area. Of the three, I only like Sierra Nevada. The other two are ok if there are no other choices.

My brother likes Blue Moon and other queer beers. Too much work IMHO. 90% of the time we can't find it anywhere to pick up for him as the places that have it are usually sold out during the peak times (like this weekend).

He brought his own stash of Sapporo and Blue Moon though anyway like many of these beer drinkers do to parties. The rude thing (my brother leaves whatever he doesn't drink with the host) is this geeks usually take all their undrank beer with them.

WOW, huge party foul by your brother

my brother leaves whatever he doesn't drink with the host

My dad is always bugging him to take his beer with him :)

how old are you? how could you have never heard of blue moon? that's like never hearing about newcastle ale.

Because many people are happy with their current beers and have no desire to be a beer elitest. It was only a matter of time before the rainbow collalition entered the beer drinker's arena.

Now you have fancy, flowery bottles...kits in department stores you can brew at home, etc.

So if you drink anything other then MGD, Bud, Coors, and their varients then you are an elitest?

no, not what I am saying.

However, if you ever get upset, make a stink, etc because your beer is not there then you need to start wearing skirts.

I love beer, I love drinking. Nothing ruins the fun of a night out more than someone running off specs and requiring labels/etc in a group.

The stella stuff I love to make fun of (and it's seeming Blue Moon is becoming like this down here) is not a bad beer. It's just funny to see some dude order one only to be told they don't have it and then not have any other choice ready and look hurt because of it.
