I am not a fan of Blue Moon, but I like most of their seasonals. The summer one, Honey Moon, is awesome.

I like Blue Moon myself, but I agree that Honey Moon is delicious. I like their Rising Moon too (Spring seasonal made with lime, which makes it taste like Corona, only better). I had no idea Blue moon was a Coors brand... It's much better than anything under the Silver Bullet label.

99.9% of the beer out there is owned by or affiliated to one of the big companies. If you can get the beer on draft at the local bar and the bar isn't owned by that brewery it's in the distribution chain.

Nonsense. Maybe in the midwest, but I live in Oregon, the brewery capital of the world. Consequently, we've got lots of places that will serve up Widmer, Deschutes, Full Sail, Rogue, and others without necessarily being associated with the brewery. I wouldn't consider any of those large (compared to Anheuser-Busch, Molson-Coors, SABMiller, etc.).

Widmer is owned by AB. ;) I don't have time to look up the rest right now, but I bet each of the others is entangled in some way or another with one of the big boys. The distribution of beer is a hard market to crack.

EDIT: I do have time since I am waiting here to go to dinner. Rogue looks like it's independant, but with as well distributed as they are I have to imagine some fanagling there. Full Sail is associated with SABMiller.

Oh, I was differentiating between distribution and actual brewing. Coors actually makes Blue Moon; Full Sail may have a distribution contract with SABMiller, but they're an independent brewery.

Didn't know that about Widmer though. Makes sense, as I remember seeing Widmer Hefeweizen in a tiny town in Connecticutt of about 15,000 people.

I love Blue Moon. It's my all time favorite beer.

Can't blame me though since it was first created right down the street.

Off the top of my head, I can think of three independent microbreweries within 60 miles of me, and I'm near the middle of the midwest ;)

I've never heard of the stuff before. Drinking Blue Moon doesn't make me gay or anything does it? I mean, does it have a rep like Zima or Apple Pucker or anything?

Next time order it with a shot of OJ (seriously) instead of the orange slice. Some bartender served my buddy and all the beer drinkers I know now swear by it (I prefer my vodka ;))

Blue Moon is excellent - no girly connotation to it here, as far as I know. Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat is absolutely my favorite beer from the bottle, but it is semi hard to find in the stores out here, let alone on tap. :(

I drank 3 bottles tonight, and my wife was like "WTF? You never drink at home!" :D At $7.50/6 pack, it could be an expensive habit though.

Leinenkeugel's sunset wheat is the cheap version of this. Basically you like a wheat beer flavored with coriander and orange peel. I don't care for wheat beers generally but I do like blue moon and sunset wheat. The berry taste the coriander gives is amazing. what's fascinating to me is that coriander is the seed of the cilantro plant, and they taste NOTHING alike.

Damn you all! I do have some Sam Adams Summer in the fridge, but now I want some Blue Moon - love the stuff! :D

I did see the Honey Moon and want to give that a shot though - I saw a couple good recommendations of it above - anyone else like the Honey Moon?

Never had it before coming to Baton Rouge, but it's very popular over here, and I must say that I definitely like it. Abita is also pretty good, especially their strawberry fest flavor.

vi_edit hit on it, but all wheat beers take lemon and oranges. If they don't put that in it, they dont know what they are doing :(

I have never had a piece of fruit put into my weissbier any bar in the various parts of Germany that I've been in.

Only teenagers and factory workers drink crappy mass produced pilsners anymore. Blue moon isn't the best wheat out there, but it's reasonably priced and widely distributed usually $1.50-$2 less than other slightly better beers for a six pack. A good beer for a place that doesn't carry local brews.

Get over yourself, conceited prick. I can't even drink beer and I find you insulting.

I'm sorry, in the future I'll pretend that watery, terrible beer is delicious.

Beer is beer, some of it sucks and some of it is good. If you don't like Coors Light, Bud Light, or any of the others then so be it. FWIW I drink Coors light all the time and I am neither a teenager nor a factory worker.... so yeah. Cheap beers have their place, just like expensive beers.

i use them to fertilize plants, what do you use them for?

I'll likely have some more as I head to ESPN zone in downtown Chicago later tonight to watch game 3 ofthe Western Conference Finals. GO LAKERS!!!

My brother likes Blue Moon and other queer beers. Too much work IMHO. 90% of the time we can't find it anywhere to pick up for him as the places that have it are usually sold out during the peak times (like this weekend).

He brought his own stash of Sapporo and Blue Moon though anyway like many of these beer drinkers do to parties. The rude thing (my brother leaves whatever he doesn't drink with the host) is this geeks usually take all their undrank beer with them.

Just an FYI... I made the mistake of trying a case of Leinenkugal's Summer Shandy. It's a lemon flavored beer. Probably the worst thing I've ever drank in my life other than Hoegarden
