Ants everywhere

Couple things about ants.
They send out scouts The scouts lay down a scent trail that the other ants follow to get where they need to go. You need to get rid of that trail or other scouts will lead more ants to the home. Use something like bleach anywhere you see ants. That makes the ants have to start from scratch each time they go looking for food and prevents the scout from going "here is where I found food !" to the other ants.

fun trick to try is when you see some ants in a long line back to a colony, wipe out about two feet of the line with bleach. Watch as they all act like they are blind now.

The thing about that liquid ant killer stuff is that it works, but they come out of the walls to die. It's pretty gross, but worth it.

Find a tiny little Sigourney Weaver, send her down the hole and let her take care of the queen.

She'll be more motivated if you let the ants take a little girl hostage.

I used Ortho Home Defense Max around the outside house last year after being invaded by dozens of ants on a weekly basis. It worked well, and we only saw a couple of ants after that.

Ants get into my house through multiple points, and I just spray Raid Ant Killer. It helps a lot!! There are also a lot of pest sprays you can get for the exterior of your home that are supposed to help control them.

have you asked to leave, you know a little kindness goes a long way.

Ok through with the sarcasm, they have foam sealer that you might be able to spray to close the hole, some has insecticide in it, the issue may be that they are not in your yard they may be under your house if you have a crawl space or basement and coming in that way.

I hate to say it but the only way we got rid of them was to call an exterminator.

here is some infor on ants you might find helpful

thanks for the replies.
Ill give the terro stuff a try since its been recommended so many times.

I've been filling a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol to kill em. seems very effective and drys fast so i can just wipe the bodies away after.

gotta get massively anal about cleanliness, eventually with traps sprays and other stuff they'll lose interest.

but yea theres nothing quite as annoying as stray ants crawl onto your leg and stuff.

i say we take off and nuke it from orbit. it's the only way to be sure.

^ Ripley's famous words in AlienZ, alien2.

i had this problem visiting a house in San Diego about a month
ago. my mother & stepfather have a house there. she gets
mega-upset by ants.

basically,
* no food
* no water
* any garbage can containing traces of food or water, stored outside.

once you have garbage outside, the ants will go outside,
so every time you put a bag in the bin, you're getting
rid of a few million ants.

Lighter + Hairspray

:laugh: About a gazillion years ago, when I was a still wet behind the years 18 year old, and showed up to Great Lakes Naval Training Center (Illinois.....aka "Great Mistakes"), they moved me into a room in the barracks. One of the first thing I noticed was that we had ants......LOTS of ants!!

It didn't take me long to get tired of them (my room mates said they tried to get rid of them, but were lazy enough that I doubt they tried hard). One day I'd had enough, asked one room mate for his can of deodorant (gave him a few bucks to replace it), and borrowed a lighter from another room mate, and went to town blazing the ants to oblivion. I'm quite certain they all thought I was nuts, but I hunted them all down and left their little crisp ant corpses for the others to find........and we never had a problem with them after that, for the remainder of the 2 months I was there! Gotta be proactive, don't ya know?? :laugh:

Oh, OP......you do know that fire ant bait works on just about any type of ant, right? Get some of that.......kills 'em dead in no time!! :evil:

Ants? That sucks. I had a dead rat which led to a massive amount of flies for a 2-3 days. Vacuumed a lot of them up and put up some fly tape towards the end, but it didn't catch that many as they all seemed to have vanished (to where, I don't know). Now, after about a week and a half fly free, it looks like round 2 is coming 🙁. I hate insects.
