Does Kaspersky a/v work with Vista 64?

Kaspersky supports XP and Vista 64 bit editions, although some users report strange slowdowns on certain sites with Kaspersky Antivirus.

To ensure that you are not in the minority, I strongly suggest that you download the free trial. If you decide that you like it and purchase it, all you have to do is enter the license key from your purchased kaspersy product into the trial to activate your subscription, no reinstall!

fry's has both zone alarm and kaspersky FAR. and iirc they've had this deal going on for a some weeks now.

OK, I bit on the FAR Kaspersky 6.0 deal at Fry's.com. Any idea on how big the update is to D/L? I've got dialup.

Anywho, thanks for all of the heads-up you've provided on the free security software, OP!🙂

How is the rebate company that processes Kaspersky's rebates? Are they reliable or do they try hard to not pay you?

I have only done 1 rebate with AllRebates so far but that went without a hitch.

Download the trial of version 7, here. Once your version 6 of KAV arrives, enter the license key into the version 7 trial and you will be good to go (Kaspersky allows you to upgrade to new versions if your subscription is still valid). I am not sure of the download size, my guess would be around 20mb. No point in installing the version 6 on the CDs and you can use the version 7 trial while you wait for it to arrive.

The $25 rebate on KIS doesn't show on the Staples website. Their online chat CSR claimed it was on/in the box. Can anyone confirm this?

Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0? The box contained the sealed software, 96 page manual, and twice folded 8.5 * 11 rebate form found inside said box.

If the rebate form was not inside, your best bet would be to return sealed software and and purchase another box. (Ask if you may open box at check out to confirm rebate form is inside.)

I remembered there was a Staples along my alternate route back from work, so I stopped in and picked up KIS 6. The Easy Rebate from printed at the register. The box is indeed labeled with a sticker saying $25 MIR for purchases at Staples thru 12/31, "Rebate form included in box."

The same sticker says you can get $50MIR if purchased at Staples WITH a nb or desktop computer OR "any Staples Easy Tech service." So this would be a good combo with that Acer nb on sale for $479 for another $25 off.

The label also refers to the Kaspersky website, but the printed URL is icorrect. I tried variations and found the rebate info at usa.kaspersky.com/staples/rebates/

Fry's B&M and FRYS.com has Kapsersky Internet Security for $65 - $65 mir = $0.

FRYS mir PDF

So Cal newspaper ad says KIS 2007 but that should be a typo. Price should be good thru Tuesday August 21. Since you're essentially paying only tax, this is a tad cheaper than the Staples offer.

Why not just merge the Kaspersky threads into one Kaspersky thread? I have no interest in other ones, and would rather not root through a giant thread of non-related deals and discussions.

That is the way it was originally. I merged all of the different companies into one thread so that when I do my (usually weekly) update, only one thread gets bumped and everyone does not have to look at 4 or so antivirus / firewall threads at the top. If more people want each product in a separate thread, I will go back.

For 12 years now I have never used an AVS for this reason. Does it not slow a system down at all or just a little?

Ive always elected to be a smart internet/e-mail user over the performance hit given to a computer by a AVS (And Ive never gotten a virus)

You won't even know Nod32 is there unless there is a virus/malware/etc on your system.
