This is rediculus, I do not undersand how these clowns got the rep they have. It may work with a fresh install alright, but if you have any programs running at start-up (even windoze update or Skype) - Foggataboutit

SRSLY? Simply because you have bad luck installing this software doesn't mean you're the majority. Software issues can and do affect everyone at one time or another. You claim that your install is clean, but I'd wager that you had an antivirus installed between now and then. Maybe traces are leftover? Maybe your install isn't as clean as your make it out to be. Maybe you'd like to try Winantivirus 2007 instead? 😛

JUst FYI, I am an independent computer consultant, installing software and security solutions on all kinds of computers corporate, small business, personal. I am doing this for a long, long time - well over 10 years, and this software is the worst install in my history. If this crashes components of my clean personal system, I dare not think of what it will do to the somewhat lesser configurations of some of my clients.

My advice is: Download a trial version first or buy this only at a place where you can return it.

OP updated, deal dead at Outpost (one rebate requires purchase of tax software), deal dead at Staples, Amazon is good until tomorrow.

Thanks John, I gave it a shot. I hope the code comes Monday or Tuesday.

edit: got my code 04.09.2007 and it worked for 3 years as promised

I cannot begin to tell you how many people I encounter that state "I have (insert # of years) experience". 😛 I am also a consultant with 10 years of experience. 😀 In addition I own a local retail computer sales and service company. The fact of the matter is that I service hundreds of pc's each and every month, and I cannot recall the last time I have had an issue with Kaspersky AV or IS crashing a system. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but I just cannot fathom how you've had so many issues.

EDIT: I found out the answer eventually:

FRYS KAV6 UPCs:
832615000805
832615000775

AMAZON KAV6 UPCs:
832615000829
832615000775

The '...775' one is the 'real one' on the box; the others are kinda
added on top for whatever nutty reason. Could they complicate
figuring out rebates any more?! Sheesh.

Hey, could someone please answer these questions about the
Kaspersky AntiVirus 6.0 UPCs?

1) *WHEN YOU BUY FROM AMAZON* What's the UPC of KAV 6.0 ?

2) *WHEN YOU BUY FROM OUTPOST.COM/FRYS* What's the UPC of KAV 6.0 ?

They seem to be different labels stuck on over the 'real' UPC. I've got a few copies
for a my family's PC's and I don't remember which is which for the rebates since
they're otherwise basically identical products / packages.

Thanks!

I downloaded the AOL Security version for someone and it is McAfee now instead of Kaspersky. 🙁

Edit: Oh, Security Edition is different than AOL's standalone free Antivirus I see.....

Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 w/ 3 year subscription for $18.95 if you select memory zipper plus.

I bought 2 and this company is legit. 🙂 It takes about 1 day for the email with the activation code to arrive. You can then go to http://activation.kaspersky.com and turn it into a key. Both of my codes/keys are good thru April 2010!

Download the latest version from Kaspersky:

Nice find!

OP updated, current deals on KAV are all dead, but the KIS looks nice.

OK, uninstalled Mcafee and installed the AOL Antivirus that uses Kaspersky.....system is a bit snappier now and I actually have a few useful options now. w00t!!

Does the code stack with an existing one? I bought the Staples special, so if I activate the 3 yr one, will I have 4 years?

I hope it's legit, because I've been burned in the past. One key I got was "blacklisted" by Kaspersky.

I bought a copy of "Photo Album" from Systweak yesterday, and got and installed the code for Kaspersky Internet Security this morning. So far it works great. Great deal!

Thanks!

I picked up 2 myself as well. One for my main Vista x64 rig and another for my laptop running Vista 32-bit. Probably the best virus scanner I've ever used as far as not being annoying.

Got my Activation Code and installed KIS 6.

I don't know about Systweak's Activation codes being legit.

The License Key Information lists the owner as "HCL".

At best, this key is as legit as buying a Windows license but not having a COA.

I bought the memory zipper plus from Systweak and they only sent the product without any KIS 6.0, also when I checked the site the deal has been removed but I ordered when it was valid. Is there anyway to get my money back from this company? Thanks!

Memory Zipper Plus does not have Kaspersky included below it 🙁

Only Advanced System Optimizer, Boost XP and Systweak Photo Studio have "Includes Kaspersky® Internet Security 6.0" listed below it and the cheapest is $30, which hurts the deal 🙁

Updating the OP to reflect this deal injurer.

Give them a day to honor the deal. It was only good through 4/9 so the change in verbage isn't anything to worry about. I'm in the same boat as you, I'll let you know when/if the key arrives.

I contacted them early this morning and no e-mail reply. I am always a little cautious with doing business with overseas companies, this deal was too good to pass up. Looks like a loss here, only $20 but still 🙁.

Give them some time, they're in a completely different time zone. You're freaking out way too early.
